Big Big news though. Will Parliament be recalled until the Supreme overturn/uphold the Scottish courts decision?

The Court will accordingly make an Order declaring that the Prime Minister's advice to HM the Queen and the prorogation which followed thereon was unlawful and is thus null and of no effect.

This is big - essentially the judges have said that the government lied to the Queen (and the rest of the country).

Parliament won't be recalled until the outcome of the Supreme Court case - interesting times.......cool heads needed, but none to be found.

the court will make order that the Prime Ministers advice "had the purpose of stymying Parliament" and the advice was "unlawful and is thus null and of no effect".

Strong stuff, the court will make an order to this effect perhaps Parliament will be back, who knows what is going on.

Don't see what the issue is anyway. The Queen agreed to prorogue parliament based on the Prime Minister's advice. It was only advisory, not legally binding...

Are you on wind up?

Stating "not legally binding" is a smack in the face to all those who rightly professed the original referendum wasn't also.

Boris, the person sacked thrice for telling lies, lied to the Queen to get his own way.
It is a constitutional outrage, whatever your brexit persuasion. It strikes to the heart of our system of government. If you don't understand this point there really is no hope. Is this is what 'taking back control' looks like??

It's another blow to Johnson, and further undermines his position. I thought Brexit would bring chaos but not create the level of parliamentary and constitutional chaos that it has wrought.

I wonder what Cameron thinks now, it was a plan to protect the status quo, divide the working class, and with the side effect of stopping Johnson from becoming PM, it has backfired massively.

There's a law in place that stipulates that the Government should supply all phone and other records on the reasons for the prorogation by 11pm tonight.
If they contain anything that points to any other reasons but that he presented to the Queen.

He's fücked

Yes, but what's the point in advising or having referenda if nothing happens as a result of these acts? It would be akin to Parliament saying "we know best". There's a considerable amount of that going on anyway...

It was clearly a joke aimed at all those who "rightly professed the original referendum wasn't also". It's funny to see people complain about arguments that they themselves have used in the past when it suited them.

Wonder what Brenda thinks. That's if she's allowed to, of course. Lied to by a serial liar and unlawfully shuts parliament down as a result. I'd not be over the moon about that if I were her.

Parliament has done what it wanted to do anyway.

If they go back what exactly is going to happen? There is deadlock/gridlock and a minority government with an opposition that doesn't want an election and is happy to make life as difficult as they can for the government.

Corbyn didn't seem to bothered yesterday about not being in parliament. He was in his element talking to his flock!

Taking back control 17th century style, at least the DUP will approve.

( put this on the other thread by mistake)

The full ruling will be available Friday. But in the interim report one of the the problems noticed was the lack of accompanying letter...we is usual in these circumstances
According the constitutional expert David Allen Green.
The only reason this could happen is that no one would put their name to a document, that later could prove illegal, i.e. There is the possibility of evidence to prove that the reasons given in a document are not totally true out there. Which would by implication is that those required to sign it, and refused, believed it exists.
Hence the law now that all records relating to discussion of prorogation should be submitted by 11pm TODAY.

The PM will be subject to parliamentary scrutiny rather than allowed to run an undeclared election campaign?

Hopefully he gets sacked, will greatly strengthen the chance of getting a deal, or not leaving, which is a better deal.

Anyone that thought he was using "no deal" as a bargaining chip/ bluff must be feeling pretty silly now with this, and especially when some other tories and the EU have said there's been no new discussions. Basically you bought BoJo the clowns lies, again.

Although, it's not like a load of us haven't said for ages that you can't use self harm as a bargaining chip/ bluff, as nobody in their right mid would ever believe it. You either have to want self harm or not improve the deal under this scenario, as the deal cannot be improved unless we give something significant up.

Doubt it. They'll still believe that's exactly what he was doing.

Just as they've convinced themselves that proroguing parliament was justified and refusing to publish the yellowhammer documents is purely 'for the good of country'.
