Croatia Holidays
hi, need some advice for a possible holiday ,its somewhere weve never been before but are considering next year. like the look of Pula/Porec. but the necessity we have is my wife uses a wheelchair and we need an accessible resort in the main for her and me doing the pushing . is there a good choice of bars and restaurants in the resorts or any others that are more suitable . were limited with mobility but still like a good night out and things to go and see during the day .

hi, Pula in Croatia is gorgeous.
The majority of it - especially where the bars and restaurants are located are on the flat - most of the touristy areas are on the flat too, apart from the fortress.
I can recommend the shipyard pub,- it has a big outside area, and often has bands singing

Porec is a good resort and not far from the airport.

Plus points;

The hotel I was at was in a woodland area incorporating camping, B & Bs with loads of activities. A bit bumpy for a wheelchair but no restrictions.

The town is pricey but classy. Nice cobbled roads with chic bars and seafood restaurants.

You can take the day trip to Venice from Porec.

Negative = really disappointed with the beaches (what beaches?) unless there are some nice private sandy beaches the water is clear but the plastic bags and seaweed were everywhere. Didn't appreciate the disused pipes sticking out either. There were many water attractions there but were not in operation or half finished. Good swimmers will be able to go beyond this and enjoy some open water point to point.

I wont be dashing back but still a nice place, if you are into camping abroad it is about as good as it gets. Price for drinks in the town is on a par with England. I found the Croats quite a serious lot.

Hope that helps.

just got back from croatia on sunday a party of 12.was just ok ,no more.would not go again.its a clean place ,didnt think the food was too clever personally,it can be very hilly,depending on where you are staying,so make sure you do your homework.thought it was a little expensive in most places i went.good luck anyway,as above says,the croats didnt seem overly friendly
