And got case dropped
A 60 quid ticket had escalated tob£255 over 3 years but I stood ground and judge found there was no contract between airport and parking company 😊

Nice one
A little different to the guy who was in the news today.
Has been fighting his £100 parking ticket for years and, after countless attempts, he finally has to pay.
It has cost him £30k in court fees.

He said
ĎPeople told me I was mad to fight ití [?]

UKPP judges hate them even though my defence wasn't great she dismissed the case and refused them an appeal 👍

'Iíve just got letter off court they want £260 or Iíll get a ccj against me how does that work ?'

It has to go to court first!! Parking companies are not the law but they will send lots of threatening letters re ccj/bailiffs/debt recovery etc..

I got one from NPS the other day. The Car Park opposite O'Connells in Baker Street.

Parking Machine at the entrance(Free on Sunday's) which was the day I was at a Christening at All Saints Church round the corner!

Now Transpires the parking machine does no refer to that car park and it's private land. £100 fine which i've appealed!

Well done Heine [^]

It's still worth noting that people should not be advocating ignoring parking tickets anymore unless they are willing to go to court.

It used to be sound advice but no longer stands.

These companies are absolute chunts but they will litigate because the numbers stack up for them.

Well done again [^]

I didn't appeal it as I took old advice to ignore it as private companies used to have no standing in court that changed a few years ago and I got a court letter and started taking it serious
I'd urge anyone in similar position to go on Money Saving Expert parking ticket section loads of good advice some of them part time solicitors
I rushed my defence and only put a 20 page defence some people were doing 200 pages
I think the judge had already made her mind up as they hate parking companies I even got a telling off as she said the U turn I did before entering car park was dangerous

It's worth it in end although I often thought I wished I'd paid 60 quid took a day off work and put lot of hours into reaseach but if we lie down they walk over us
👍

They should have to compensate you for taking time off work if you win. It's because of this people just pay up.

I got a separate one before ( Iíve had 3 never paid any). They wanted £100 for 10 mins parking. I wrote back saying that my parking of 10 mins had not cost the land owner a £100 and if the landowner ever charged for parking it would not be £10 per minute. I said itís the only letter I was sending and I would ignore all future correspondence. 3 years later never heard from them again

Corcaigh, Aldi will always quash the Parking Eye tickets if you send a photo of a receipt to their customers services. We've had about 10 cancelled so far (my missus never does the packing quick enough!)

use Pepipoo forum.

They have some excellent advise when it comes to parking tickets.

I used them when I received 2 parking tickets 3 years ago at Newcastle Airport.

Safe to say they stopped sending me letters when I threatened them with legal action over DPA[^]

I was in Aldi Billingham yesterday. I didn't realise it was parking eye patrolled and left without going to the machine. My wife informed me when I got home I had to validate my time there. I've kept my shopping receipt so hoping nothing comes of it.

What pishes me off about the whole system (there are a few things) is that you legally have to register that you are the keeper of your vehicle to the DVLA. You are legally obliged to do that. Then they can sell on your details to private companies such as these companies. Surely, that is a breach of GDPR?

MFc79 - it is worse than that. It cost the parking company £2.50 for each enquiry but it costs the DVLA £2.39 to process it. So we, the tax payer are actually subsidising the parking companies.
