This " Through a bout " on the a66 at cargo fleet

Can see major issues with this like. Hasn't really worked in Darlington

Thoughts?

Works fine in Darlington, it does confuse some but even if you choose to go round rather than through you still can exit where you want to but you've lost a little time. They are going to replace the one in Darlo at a cost of millions with a big roundabout which I suspect will have to have traffic lights on it because of the unbalanced traffic flows.

Should be a proper flyover but as usual they go for a cheap option. Cost is £4.5 million. Junction built on the A19 in Newcastle cost £75 million. They will do the same when the new Tees crossing is built.

There's nowt wrong with the one in Darlo apart from the users who tend to do what they do elsewhere which isn't following the law or the highway code.

The one in Darlo is being removed.

Why not tunnel underneath to allow traffic to flow all the time and have slip roads off?

The Darlo one is hated locally, it was designed to funnel traffic headed out of town by the "through" direction, but certainly for local traffic along Haughton Road it just seems to have caused more congestion despite supposedly diverting some capacity. Locals say it is much better when the lights are off and it has to be used as a normal roundabout (which it was previously).

Plenty folk dont even grasp the concept of a skin and bones roundabout let alone slip roads, speed limits and lane discipline. The problem isnt the civil engineering, its standards, common sense and awareness.

Several on Manchesters inner ring road, works fine , as stated those who can't understand them use them as roundabouts taking just a few more minutes

I use the Darlo one on a regular basis. I find it easy to use and eases congestion. Waiting to see the complaints when they remove it with the backlog it will cause.
