See George at CB ?

Good to see him back and he made a few lung bursting runs early so he appears to be fit, so opinions of our skip in a more central role?

Does he come in for ewood ?

He may be needed at left back. When Fry is fit id have him an Ayala as centre halves an George at full back, for a while at least, until we steady the ship

He must have had more touches than any of our lot last night.

No. Being there last night I can say that George Friend is still - currently - the best Left Back we have. However, he's probably about the fourth best centre back.

We know from past performances that it takes him 3 or 4 games to get up to full speed.

But frankly when will he get 3 or 4 consecutive games this season?

4th choice CB and 3rd choice LB.

Last night shows what you egt with no reserve team football. Most of those palyers last night have had no football since preseason games and it showed.

As a left footed centre back he added balance to the back line. It was much easier for him to pass the ball out from back than right footer playing on left side.

I can't see George making a centre back of any value [?]

I think it is clear that is the way we are going to head. He was good last night overall but I thought he made a split second decision that could have prevented or at least made the 2nd goal harder. As the goalscorer made his run across the penalty area George had three looks at him but at the crucial point decided to let him run and checked back inside to where we already had 3 defenders. By the time he recognised the danger it was too late. He will get there and we sure as heck need his leadership especially as the new players bed in.

George will probably flit between the two positions depending on injury, suspensions and form. It is up to Bola, Coulson and Fry to make the various positions their own to keep him out.

He was originally signed as a CB from Donny, but has rarely played their since. He is better than Shotton though
