Tav

Showed tonight why he doesn’t start. Swanning around thinking he’s the best player in the world yet makes no impact on the game. Very very poor.

(Then again the whole lot except McNair and Fletcher were poor).

He was truly abysmal. Crossing was pathetic

I thought Browne looked bright and made his mark.

Tav has this uncanny ability, he can be completely invisible in plain sight.

Agree 100% with the OP..yet another poor game without having an impact on the match. If he was truly the prospect many think he is, his class would shine through against a league 2 side.

He was invisible in the pre-season friendly at the Riverside as well - the game passed him by.

I think he first came into the side, scored that goal against Sunderland and we immediately thought "what a prospect", however he hasn't developed in the way we were all hopping he would.

He needs to go out on loan really. He is not anywhere near ready for a grind that is the championship.

I would have taken him off at half time.

They need to stop with this woeful idea that he's a central midfielder, put him wide and tell him to make chances or get on the end of crosses

Pulis suddenly right?

If I remember this right - Pulis rated Tavernier above Lewis Wing as Tav had instinct wheras Wing wouldn't conform to the "system".

However, Tav seems to have gone backwards in the last two years. His performance only didn't stand out as awful because he had Saville to thank for being truly abysmal. Neither showed any reason why they should be any more than emergency cover.

hes not a winger either, he doesnt really have the attributes to play that role

He needs to go out on loan, i , for one have never understood the love in for tavernier his goals aside, i always thought his all round play was, and remains lacking

Tav
The gazette player ratings gave him a 5 and 4 other players just a 4 each.

Frankly my ratings for the 11 who started would have not reached 5 in total.

This was a stick used to beat Pulis with last season.

In reality he just noticed that he was no where near first team football.

He could end up being a striker, he knows where the goal is but doesn't really look suited to a full game in midfield, either in the middle or wide.

Tav
I don't think hes a winger either but equally I don't think anyone plays with wingers in the modern game but he easily could play as an attacking midfielder with a fullback overlapping.

Like he did in his better performances such as Preston in the cup and Leeds United. He doesn't have the positional sense to play deeper

Very poor last night, and seemed surprisingly reluctant to attack.

As said above, his attitude stinks sometimes. Look at the Hartlepool friendy, Clayton was Captain, we were 2-0 up, Tav was trying flicks and diving in. Right in front of us, Clayton told him to calm down and look what he was doing. He turned around and told him to fcuk off and walked away. Last season he was benched a lot because of his attitude in training. He really needs to have a word with himself as there is a decent player in there.

The fact people are unable to pick what position he should play is evidence enough he’s not ready. Needs to go out on loan, play regularly and find his best position.
