Sell the club to whom but....... he was a hero twenty years ago but since has been living on his past reputation as the best chairmen . Treats the fans like mushrooms ,kept in the dark and fed on bulls""t . Builds himself massive mansions ,but tries to pass himself off as a man of the people . Highest prices in the championship , I'm a fan of the club ,but not of Gibson .

The last two times Iíve heard him speak -

* Sounded like a drunken oath on BBC Tees, banging on about liking to smash the league.

* Got all stroppy and defensive asked about will he be able to back Woodgate, ďwe have a history of backing our managers here, donít we?Ē Transfer window has now closed..... ermmm....

Couldnít agree more with the mushroom analogy above.

no - its a regional airport mainly doing holiday destinations , as is Teesside and Leeds Bradford. FYI The only major international airport (i.e does Direct Transatlantic and flights to Asia/Africa) in the North is Manchester.

- Hence of far less interest to Non European nationals.

Just saying like...

The airport is the least of our problems , Gibson is the problem , just a bit of honesty from him and the club would be nice but dont expect it . I see this season as a bedding in of the new breed of our own cheap buys and kids . Next close season will be a bit of a blood bath with so many senior pro's out of contract .[rle]

To be honest, I think that's what the club needs (and wants) to start building again. We've tried to change styles this season but too much money is tied up in the big contracts of our (relatively) under performing senior players. This season is definitely one of transition and I'm sure results will reflect that. Just hope we get enough good results this season to keep confidence high and avoid having to look over our shoulders as pressure can do funny things to inexperienced players (and managers).

Barnsley got some very good owners who bought them half way through the season before last and they look like they are trying to do things properly there.

There would alot of good potential owners looking to buy the club if it come up for sale but it's a lottery cos also there are loads of potential disasters it would come down to how diligent Gibson was when/if he comes to sell which will be dependent on how desperate he is to sell. I honestly cant ever see him selling but I do think hes way behind the curve now hes becoming incompetent.

The club in my opinion should be a lot better run than it is. The recruitment has been a shambles for years and yet Gary Gill is still there, how?

Who owns the training ground, MFC or Gibson?

Questions need to be asked of Gibson and he shouldnít just be placed on a untouchable pedestal.

I've been critical of Gibson and am on a few fronts, but let's get some things straight:
He has not done well out of Boro and he has made zero return.
The Club is worth MINUS £57m.
Gibson O'Neill has put £64m in to the Club and is owed over £80m by the Club.

I think he is clueless - or has been since 2016 - and has lost the capability to take the Club forward like he did from 94-06.
But he has put money in and his "investment" is currently worthless.

The club is worth what someone will pay for it. If he backed Karanka in January I dare say we would still be in the premier lead and the club would be worth a lot more. Very little of premier league money was actually spent. Rockliffe will be worth a tidy sum, that was all purchased on the back of MFC. Will he sell that to MFC at some point or lease it back when he goes or maybe extend the golf course over?

To suggest, no MFC without Gibson is ridiculous. One day it will happen. For better or for worse, weíll see.

Hello, just my two pennies worth on the debate.

Be warned Gibson may not be perfect but he is a very good owner who deeply cares about your club and is respected throughout the game. Has he got managers right lately, not really. But there has been reasoning behind every appointment, Monk did terrific with Swansea at a young age and Leeds on no budget he did so well that he almost reached the playoffs. He spent badly and that has hurt you with players on big wages you cant shift. He brought in Pulis who has been a solid premier league manager to manage said players, he thought he might do a Warnock and use his experience to get you out of the division. He might well of done had he still been at his best. However younger more innovative managers like Farke and even intelligent managers who started out at a lower level like Wilder and Smith outfoxed him and showed he tactically was now falling short. You have taken a risk on Woodgate a young coach. Like many, I have my doubts as he is so inexperienced, but Gibson is obviously banking on the Lampard factor in terms of a former top-level premier league player who played at Real Madrid being able with Keane to motivate a young squad to reach the playoffs. We will see if it works, Woodgate needs time to prove he can be successful though.

Unless you have a stable backer from a china etc (not easy to find) who is prepared to pour hundreds of millions into a proper football club like yourself with good supporters then Gibson will continue to be the right many for you. The academy has to be the basis of this. For two reasons, one the desire to play for the club is huge, and two it manages the wage bill. Look at Sunderland and Rodwell/Kone and co when you go the other way.

Another example is at Bolton at present for when the opposite is the case. Be careful what you wish for, after Eddie Davis the ship soon came falling down and is barley above sinking level at present.

Dumbest post of the day?

So for three years in his whole tenure the last three years are so bad that he needs to go? Ridiculous.

You don't even know how the appointment of Woodgate and his "new way" is going to pan out. On the back of a bad sixty minutes against Crewe.

Talk about ingratitude.

Who is Gibson respected by in football? Managers, because heís a soft touch and doesnít pull the trigger easily, lets the like of Monk take the you know what out of the club?

Rival clubs because we buy high and sell cheap?

The jobs for the boys brigade?

The local fan on low income who canít afford the community club walk up prices?

Fans of rival clubs who pay £30 when fans are campaigning for £20ís plenty?

The stockton mackems? At a time when more season tickets were held outside of the town of Middlesbrough.

You may not agree with anything I say. Only a few years ago, Gibson couldnít be questioned, I tell you what, more and more are beginning to ask questions.

It's easy to point out bad examples of chairmen but what about good examples of owners who are far better than gibson in terms of knowledge on how to build a small/medium size football club into a success in the modern game? Brighton, Watford, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Norwich, Swansea, Southampton, WBA are not bigger clubs than us in any way shape or form but have enjoyed a far greater success in terms of premier league football and in the way they are run financially and operationally so it really depends on how you look at it.

I personally would welcome a change I think it's becoming stale and theres a big disconnect now that there wasnt a decade ago between the fans and those that run the club. We have plateaued into a middle of the road championship club over the last 10-15 years and I cant honestly see us improving on that judging by what's gone on in the last 3 years when we have had a chance to buck that trend.

nowthen - the figures quoted by Indeedido are based on the actual amounts in the accounts of MFC and the parent company, and are the most up-to-date publically available numbers

Your opposing view that he has done very well out of owning the club is based on emotion and prejudice. I get that people are emotionally invested but the truth is the Chairman has sunk huge amounts into the club he will likely never ever get back. MFC is only a going concern because of the financial support of the parent company. Without that it is bankrupt

How many of their fans have seen their club win cups and go to countless other finals? Swansea won a cup, any others? (Ironically the only club on your list lower than us last season).

Watching them scrap it out for 10th place in the PL season after season isn't something I'm especially envious of. At least during our most recent 'golden spell' we actually made some memories.

Literally any of those clubs you list above could easily be below us in the next 24 months.

Personally atypical I prefer to see the club prosper in the top division run properly with a better standard of player. That's never going to happen again under Gibson football has moved on and hes just not what he used to be. He had the money to bring in good players to cover the shortcomings of the way the club was run but as more clubs caught and surpassed us financially the failings at the club have become extremely apparent and havnt really been addressed quick enough if at all in some cases.

When we won the cup we were one of those teams 'battling out for 10th' we were a mid table club bar one season but I certainly wasnt complaining because we had good players to watch. So that's a bit contradictory.

There is nothing at all beneficial about being mid table in the championship for a club like ours and every season you spend there the further behind we fall and I dont think financially we are doing well at all atm. I'm quite worried about the state of the club.

It feels like a good time for a new direction for me like.
