I don't understand why it's not just a 'giver' at every club. That said it's been long over due[^]

So many people don't have a ST and they even done away with Boro pride.

The season we got to Wembley against Norwich I struggled like feck to get a ticket. I had been to 27 games that season and lived in Portsmouth. I was annoyed being thrown into the same internet queue as people who'd been to one or two.

To honest apart from a playoff final or cup run we will never sell out. So hardly an issue.

Under Aitor away allocations were frequently selling out, hence all the complaints from regular away followers who missed out. Could easily happen again if we hit promotion form.

No problem with a loyalty scheme, but to announce if AFTER they've flogged us the season tickets is annoying, but typically MFC.

Special circumstances I know, but I live over 10,000 miles from the ground and so get to maximum 2 games a season - however I still buy my season ticket as my way of supporting the club, but also because I'd want a ticket should we get to a final or to another in-demand game.

If someone who's been to more games than me goes before me in that queue through the loyalty scheme then that's fine, but I should have known that before I shelled out 400 quid for a season ticket thinking that would help me for in demand games - now I find it's won't.

Having a loyalty scheme only makes a difference if we quickly sell out. Last season I can't remember a game that quickly sold out. Rotherham and Leeds sold out but it took time. Brentford normally sold out quite quickly but last season there were some tickets left ok it was a early evening game.

There's no perfect solution neither e.g. who of these 2 would you give priority to

Gold Season Ticket holder that hadn't be to an away game in the current season (season ticket holder for 20 consecutive seasons)

or a First season ticket holder that had been to 12 away games out of 20 in the current season?

That's obvious, the Gold Season ticket holder, he's been putting money into the clubs coffers for 20 seasons, the other guy has mainly contributed to the coffers of other clubs in the league.

Bit sneaky to bring in a loyalty points scheme after flogging season tickets of which one of the advertised benefits is priority access to away tickets, with no mention made of a points scheme for that priority.

The devil will be in the detail and Iíd imagine all season card holders will retain some form of priority (surely even MFC canít be that daft), if not the club will have a fair few angry punters to deal with.

There really arent that many people that go to more than half away games in a season. And that software lets them know exactly if it is 100 or 200 going to 10 or 15 away games.
I think people sometimes imagine they would miss out on a loyalty system because they mistakenly believe there are hundreds going to every away game.

It is a form of discrimination nonetheless. I go to about 7-10 away games a year and think it a disgrace that my chances of a ticket are any different to anyone elses.

Have I missed something here, I can't find any details about how the priority scheme will work? It seems that people are making guesses about how it could work and then saying that they are against it?

My guess will be that all existing season ticket holder priorities will remain unchanged, and that the scheme is more a case of SeatGeek having it as a service on their system and that we have opted to make use of it. In terms of current fan numbers it will make no difference at this present time.

I've had a look at how Derby County do things given that they also use SeatGeek.

It 100% won't go down well at Boro, if we try this.

Derby have a 'DNA Away Membership' scheme, which gives the highest priority for away match tickets. The membership costs £90 a season for non-season ticket holders. And, £40 a season for season ticket holders!!

I don't think Boro will go down this route.

Derby also have a 'DNA Home Membership' scheme and members have the benefit of getting 20% off match tickets. This would be beneficial at Boro. Anything to encourage walk-up fans.

Whatever the loyalty scheme they adopt, it won't satisfy all fans.

I don't think there's a loyalty scheme that can keep every fan/season ticket holder happy?

But I think it's the best thing going forward as the current system is flawed.

Play off semi final tickets, local derby away tickets, small allocation away tickets - all these need to be staggered based on loyalty and not a free for all between all season ticket holders IMO.

"Whatever the loyalty scheme they adopt, it won't satisfy all fans."

Exactly this.

ST holders will say that their tickets are the only true measure of loyalty. Away fans will say that making sacrifices to travel around the country shows more loyalty than a 10 minute walk. Overseas fans will say that their 3 games a season shows dedication that local fans can never match.

The worst thing about "loyalty" schemes is that they effectively label some fans as less loyal than others, which isn't a great way to treat passionate fans.

Personally, I'd create a platinum tier at the top and give lifetime membership to anyone who sat through that clusterfcuk at Villa Park last year.

IIRC the City software enables season ticket holders to sell their seats for home games if they're not able to make them for one reason or another. That would be useful for us what with the number of potentially difficult to attend midweek games we have. Would be even *more* useful for away games.

Thanks for reminding me of villa park last season! Seriously though as mentioned above a loyalty scheme would only come into affect for small allocations and local derbies etc. Sunderland away the first game back in the premier League been a good example, that's when we could have done with it. Surely the club already know what tickets I and others have bought over the last few seasons - it's all there in our accounts? If not it'll take a while for fans to build up 'points' as it were, like at other clubs. I suppose they may just go with how long you've had a season ticket for such games. Luton probably needs it but Blackburn won't etc.

Not anymore for football Dan. Clubs are leaving because of the terrible service and poor software issues we experienced.

The football manager from Ticketmaster came to a Boro Fans Forum meeting towards the end of the season before last to personally apologise for all the problems and just a week later the whole system went down again.

Derek the Boro Ticket Office manager used to work for TicketMaster in the Middle East - but he saw the problems first hand at Boro and wanted to act to change.

For starters one thing now is that you can see everyone in your group when you buy tickets.

Ref Luton - it will sell out possibly just season ticket holders (if we have 18k) - if less than 1100 tickets that less than we take to most grounds. Its about the same as Bristol City away last year which is long trip from Teesside and not short one for London exiles. Luton being a new ground for most will add 300 or 400 and Luton is easier trip for most than Bristol.

I am in favour of a loyalty scheme, within categories. Categories could be GoldST, ST, non ST. However for some games when we kniow we will have enough tickets, the GoldST need not apply.

Hopefully we can see some improvements with the new system. I didn't present my point very well in that I wasn't meaning to imply that SeatGeek are second best to TicketMaster. Just that TicketMaster have years of experience as the market leader (and even they can't avoid issues) and so it will be a case of seeing how the newcomer compares. Hopefully it will be as good as their sales pitch.

Rob, are you saying the club are doing this as a service improvement pure and simple?. Are the club making a financial saving by this switch, if so, would they have done it had this system cost more for the alleged improvements? I doubt it personally.

There may be a few benefits to fans. This shows that they intend to treat fans differently, it is simply creating different tiers of customer and ultimately we will be treated differently as a result. No offence, but you will be alright as you will be one of the biggest beneficiaries, so you will be loving it and spin it accordingly. Why should you and others like you be given greater value than I.

I have had my loyalty tested and eroded over the years by MFC. I was an A serial card holder, that loyalty was cancelled without consultation, I travel more than many to home games (there are many that travel further than I) thats loyalty. Every game is effectively an away game for many fans.

I am a firm believer that we should all be treated equally, but it seems the club are going down the line of making some more equal than others, especially so for the limited access games. Those that can get to the odd away game will be welcome at some and not welcome for others. I am so disappointed in MFC as they are weakening the value of an ST.

Non ST holders get ST holders who dont travel to away games to use their numbers to access tickets for away games. Those that do this will have their loyalty increased over those that say go to a few games. When a really big game arrives They will access their higher loyalty points to get their ticket even though they have not been to many or any games. It is so open to fraud as it is, but it will only get worse. Dont say it doesnt happen as I know for a fact it does.

I thought he said sales would be the same as present but the information they have is far deeper so they can grade sales far more. So for instance I dont know that they need away season ticket holders as they know who those people are anyway. I suppose the full system might not come in yet I dont know. Just he said he had enough information with the new software and systems he puts in place to be very flexible with away ticketing. The numbers of people travelling away are dropping now, especially midweek v Red Button. I have written the club a letter asking for a price cap with reciprocal pricing agreed between clubs to try to attract fans back to going away and attract visitors to the Riverside. We shall see..

New SeatGeek Ticketing Service & Loyalty Scheme For MFC

Coluka - what you say doesnt apply because we simply do not sell out away games anymore.
No one is rewarding me over you. Just I go to all the games so will want a ticket. You want to pick and choose your away games so you get that opportunity still. We do not have the level of season card holders that exceed Wembley play off finals. We do not play in the same division as Sunderland. If Luton was on a Saturday then it might have been more of an issue.

New SeatGeek Ticketing Service & Loyalty Scheme For MFC

Rob, the thing is it will apply at some games in the future as well you know. There will be games that are sold out as soon form and performances dictate soon enough. There may be big games in cups or play offs where it applies or at grounds where we are limited due to allocation too.

For the record, I donít pick and choose games either as you infer, I go every time when my personal circumstances permit. I wish my circumstances permitted I could go every away game.

My point was that we are being discriminated against. We are not being treated equally as SC holders. You know full well about the problems of having to buy rail tickets in advance for cheaper fares. This will make obtaining a match ticket that bit harder for some and risk wasting money on travel too.

This is not putting fans first at all it is putting some fans first before others. I repeat, do you believe Boro would have switched if this company were not cheaper?

The club have had various priority schemes over the years. I firmly believe this is not a fair scheme and categorises fans into certain levels of priority to the club. Once you treat people differently, it creates animosity. Whatever happened to equality!

Thatís true rob, but you will get ticket hunters collecting tickets just to amass points ( as Ive seen with sunlun fans) so whereas a few st holders might go after qpr or Luton tickets now many more will go after these ( then pass them on) just to get their points up despite not wanting to go to Luton or qpr as they may need the points for say a Leeds away ticket.

It does happen and it will happen here.

Well it is the obvious way to go Lee. Post up a list of games and i am sure lots of people will oblige for you and others too.

Is this what the club want to create rob?

I know someone who went to one away game last year. His season ticket was in double figures though.

New SeatGeek Ticketing Service & Loyalty Scheme For MFC

You're never going to please all the people all the time, and trying to micromanage "loyalty" is never going to work, for the reasons mentioned above.

I was a season ticket holder for 30 years (through some VERY dark days at Ayresome) before I moved abroad, but now only get to maybe 3 or 4 games a season - do I "deserve" some loyalty points ? - much as I'd like to think so, probably not .... though the fact I didn't get a ticket for Eindhoven when I was an A prefix season ticket holder still pi55es me off all these years later

Fairesst way is a priority order of :

1. First dibs to Season Card Holders (and NOT giving priority to gold card holders) on a random basis, or if the software now allows, priority given to anyone who didn't get a ticket for the previous sell out

2. Second dibs to members of some sort of loyalty / membership scheme for people who can't / don't want to have a season card, but rewards attending matches home or away - oh I don't know, we could call it Boro Pride or something

3, General sale

As I said, not perfect, but the fairest solution

Sunlun btw include all games in their scheme so that included south shields as well imagine if Gateshead gave you points at £8 youíd be mad not to buy one if it added to your total.

the way I am seeing this, is that it is just a change of service provider from Ticketmaster to SeatGekk, who hopefully have a much more efficient and reliable service, the priorities will remain unchanged, with season ticket holders getting priority, then general sale but will have the capability to switch to a loyalty based system if required, maybe semi finals, or finals etc........so in the main, no change but a better service???
