Last night's fringe players

The Boro line up last night were a few unknown / academy players,
GK - James, Spence, Reading, Wood, Stubbs, Wearn Malley, Armstrong, Coulson

Who of the above, in your opinion, could be looking at been involved next season

I would imagine 2-3 could be knocking on the squad door. I think Tav is realistly looking at pushing for the team.

I expect 3-4 will go out on loan. Its far better to play 20+ games in league 1 or 2 than hover around the Boro squad and play in the cups.

If Woodgate sticks to what he says in recent interviews, both Tav and Wing should be starting. Sounds like the younger members of the squad will be given a chance more, unlike under Pulis.

Probably a core 11 of

Randolph
Shotton
Fry
Ayala
Friend (strengthen this position)
Howson
Saville (Maybe Mcnair)
Wing
Tav
Britt
Fletcher

Possibly Braithwaite if given a chance.

Cheers. I was hoping we would see more of him in the centre mid role.

Tav was the stand out player last night playing in the middle. Id be interested to see a mid field 3 with someone sitting (take your pick on who) with Wing and Tav either side.

I think that could work Heam

Someone posted a thread the other week saying where is Tavs best position and I said that I reckon on the left of a midfield 3 and have since recently heard Woodgate say it too.

Reading and Mally looked really good last night and if they keep it up during close season should be knocking on the door of the first team.

Paddy reading is a decent prospect, gone under the radar for some time.

I posted earlier about Malley ( no 17) as he really stood out for me.

As for tav I was sick of asking why he wasnít getting games last season looked really sharp last night.

Block21, Yeah I saw your post regarding Tav on the left of a midfield 3 and I was surprised that both yourself and Woodgate have said it, at the time I would have said his best position was RW but seeing him last night and thinking about it I think you are right. Wing and Tav in the middle (with someone sitting) could be great together.

Heam [^]

Itís certainly an exciting prospect, I know it was only Gateshead but loved the way he was picking the ball up in deep areas then getting head up and driving up the pitch with the ball itís always good to have a midfielder who has got that in his locker so hopefully he can learn the position better and make it his own [^]

Stubbs.
Plenty of experience last season with Notts County. Hes a leader and has the makings of a good solid player.[^]

Djed Spence looked really fast as an advanced right wing back. I know injuries mean Shotton has to play centre back at the moment but I wonder if Spence could make a bid for right wing back with Shotton centre back. Not only was he fast his crossing was impressive also.
