Simon Clarke MP. Conservative Member of Parliament for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland. Voted alongside the DUP, against equal marriage and abortion rights in Northern Ireland.

Didn't realise the guy was so backward, what century do these people live in?

I have had personal dealings with him and his office. He is a massive toss pot.

Considering some parties in Ireland, possibly including the DUP, are still fighting the Nine Year War I would say the 17th Century.

I don't know his reasoning, but as I understand it, this legislation is there in case NI don't sort it out. As Stormont isn't working it would seem reasonable and appropriate.

Giza...

Iíve found him quite hostile. He blocked me on his Facebook page when I challenged him. The guy is a fool and seems more interested in posting about Corbyn than worrying about what his party are doing. He also doesnít seem to have a stance about any issue. He just seems to follow the crowd.

the hypocrisy of the DUP amazes me, no border in the Irish sea we are a part of the UK, except when like now they do not want to abide by our laws

If you actually read what he said is that he believes it is for Northern Ireland as a devolved country to decide.

He should have probably abstained but itís unfair to call him backward when you havenít read his reasons.

Did he take a selfie when he voted. He likes to get a picture or two of himself to get himself in the news.

Uncle Rico. Like someone stated he could have abstained.

In the absence of a working Stormont, he is advocating to make women criminals for wanting an abortion. Something that is a National issue and not a devolved issue.

Perhaps you can explain why it is unfair to call him backward. Are you saying the DUP are not backward too?

SC voted for the Brexit Deal he is not a No Dealer. He came on Radio Tees and explained his thinking i.e. the most important thing is that the Leave process is started. It appears a solid dry right winger but is not an idealist. My guess is that he will try and find a safer Conservative Seat in the future. possibly in more rural North Yorkshire. I do like how he has publicly criticised over expenditure, such free membership of an exclusive health and sports club in rural Surrey for all staff employees of the Bank of England and a free Summer jamboree there. Obviously austerity cuts were not for them.

Seriously is that the best thing you can provide as a positive Redwurzel? Having a go at the facilities of the B of E (which no doubt improved the well-being of its employees). It wasnít exactly exclusive either as members of the public could join. It apparently broke even as well so hardly a strain on the public purse. With so much else to worry about to he gets involved in that and in Northern Ireland policy too despite him arguing otherwise.

CD - no its not the best thing I can offer, but it was offered to show an insight into Simon Clarke ands I was pleased when he questioned such expenditure (a few thousand pounds per year per staff member (4000 staff) Its not just the amount it's the principle too.

Simon Clarke is trying to develop new local economic developments such as Freeport status for Teesport. I know he is also working to help save Skinningrove steel works which is a critically important employer in East Cleveland.

He votes whichever way he's told to vote.

Absolute liability and the people of Middlesbrough South should be ashamed of themselves for voting him in.

Seems to be cross wires here - its very much a positive to me what he is doing on the highlighted projects. He also got Boris to drop in which if he wins does might help the area occasionally.

When I come up to the Teesside and Cleveland area I see it has a lot of going for it, but it seems to be not reaching its potential at present.

Redwurzel. Public companies have had sports grounds ever since Ive known. Civil service had many regional staff sports facilities set up as perks and to improve the well-being of its employees. The Bank of England Sports Ground in Roehampton hired out its facilities (including to the All England Tennis Club for the Wimbledon qualifiers) and broke even financially so that subsidy was recouped . Simon Clarke jumping on that was a ďpopulistĒ thing to do but ultimately in my opinion trivial in the grander scheme of things.

Funnily enough Cllr Dave ďSmoggy89Ē Smith has plenty of retweets from Simon Clark MP on his timeline and a shed load of Labour Anti-Semitism retweets but absolutely nothing on this.

Thatís James Wharton and now Simon Clarke whoíve now failed to support him on the issue he holds dearest.

When will he realise the party he so dearly loves detests everything about him?
