I can see the positives in this

He knows the club and the academy so will know where we are weak it new look backroom staff.

Heís a young experienced England international who has played at the highest level there is he will have contacts.

I am genuinely shocked at the reaction of some on here.

Me personally Iím quite excited to see how he does advanced he knows how unpopular pulis ball was and Iíll bsck him.

I think the Negativity is purely about JWís life outside football, in and around Middlesbrough.

For me - this could be the making of him.

At the end of the day he has played at the highest level and is regarded as one of the best defenders this country has produced.

I believe that he deserves as much a chance as anybody else.

I hope the fans do that and give him a fair chance.

Really Wiseman I don't think it is primarily about his life outside football, in and around Middlesbrough.

His career was completely unfulfilled and underwhelming. He wasn't anywhere long enough to absorb and is too numb to be able to do so anyway.
He has no coaching experience of any note, was part of a horrible regime under pulis and is the parochial choice of a parochial dictator.

Is parochial the new buzz word?

Might get it on the back of my shirt

Just saying itís popping up a lot today.

As you know this approach wasnít my choice either but I do think we should all try and get behind the team which includes the manager to give the lad a fighting chance aswell. Donít mind yous having digs at Gibson for making a choice thatís divisive but donít agree with people taking the XXXXXX out of Woodgates intelligence think itís a bit unfair on him.

Shall we try all get behind him and the team or would we all just rather moan until heís gone?

I'm honestly struggling to see how anyone can be 'excited' about this. Cautiously optimistic perhaps, but excited?!

Coudln't agree more wit Indeedio, and I nearly posted the same.

He is not one of the best defenders this country has produced, he rose quickly to prominence, secured a lucrative transfer to R Madrid, but has largely had a career of unfuflfilled potential.

That's not my worry though. Successful managers are a combination of knowing how to get the best out of the players at their disposal, preparation against the opposition, and the perception and courage to change formation or personnel during a match.

I worry about the whole thing, but am partially relieved Pulis is gone, so anything has to be better than the football under him?

Ok maybe excited is stretching it a bit but I am intrigued at how we will finally use our young talent as I think it could surprise a few at how well they adapt.

Was he my no 1... no, am I jumping and doing cartwheels... again no but I can see the positives and I think we should at least see how we line up and play before castigating him.

Plus I like the look of his back room itís new and itís worth a try as nothing could be worse than pulis

It's hardly new is it? Woodgate; here. Round; was here. Perkovich; was here.

You hope it couldn't be worse than Pulis, but what if you're wrong. Do we look again and who? Gill maybe?

I'm nervous about this appointment, but equally excited as it is a new direction.

Sounds like Youngsters and more attacking football is the name of the game this time.

It may just work you know!!

The only positive I can think of, is that he will be found out pretty quickly but it would be at the detriment of another wasted season.

The coaching team isn't really new but you can spin it anyway you want. I'm personally liking the sound of the new coaching set up.

Round - was here during our most successful period ever in the top flight/Winning a cup and European cup runs.

Percovich- Also here during a successful period on the whole until he got "injured" (Fell out with Karanka). Has a great bond with the fans and club.

Robbie Keane - a bit of unknown as coach/No 2 but Mick McCarthy seems to rate him so must be something there. Also someone the young players will look up to and respect straightaway.

I can see the positives in Round coming back. I can see the positives in Keane coming in. If Rosenior was the U/23 manager, I see the positives in that too.

As for Woody, I am positive about my thoughts on him as manager too
