Is to be allowed by the USA (washington)

What are peoples thoughts on this and should the UK follow suit?

Personally I think it is a great idea and our remains can say be planted with a tree to help the planet and provide a place of solace and remembrance for loved ones left behind.

I don't see any problem with this. How is it any different to being cremated and turned into Ashes?

The thought of planting a tree in the family garden is a good way to remember a loved one.

The crap from the all our sewerage plants is turned into pellets and used as fertilizer on farms in the UK to grow our vegetables, and it has been for years.

I want to be buried in a cemetery near to my parents.

I'm in. Use my ashes or remains to fertilise the soil or grow a tree. I don't need my body any more, and I don't need a special box buried in a special plot taking up space and resources even when I'm dead.

Iím all for it. Environmentally friendly and itís not like Iíll know.

The problem comes that it creates about 2 wheelbarrows worth of compost. Thatís quite a lot to grow a tree in. Most people wouldnít want or need all of that, so what do they do with it? Does the company sell the excess to commercial growers? Would people be okay with eating fruit and vegetables grown in it?

Lots of questions.

Like said above, sewage sludge is spread on fields already so as long as there are no dangerous residues then I don't have a problem with it.

Might go on in some places but I'm almost certain NWL have stopped making the pellets. It's all about bio-gas now. Leftover sludge is still spread though.

Totally for it, I find the thought of spending thousands disposing of my body, when the money could be used for much better things totally abhorrent.

Each to their own of course, if you want a bells and whistles funeral you should have it.

Perhaps "Sky Burials" will catch on now that we have Kites and Buzzards in decent numbers. Just leave me on top of Eston Nab.

I want to donate my body to medical science but I understand they are quite fussy over who they'll take so I will probably be rejected.

I'm jumping over both sides of this fence. My gran passed last year and she wanted to be cremated and have her ashes buried with her parents.

I discovered there was no headstone, so I arranged for this to be there. She wanted to be remembered, so I honoured her wishes.

For me personally, I'm happy to be composted in the back garden with a tree planted. My family get a natural memorial and I help nature out.

Frankly, you could chop my head off and mount it at the circus and throw rotting fruit at it for all I care, I'm dead.

I opened this expecting to read something about collecting your own fecal waste and giving it back to the planet.

I was all prepared to laud hopesoboro's contribution to the world as he'd surely produce more than anyone else.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm all for it.

"Ms Spade says the process for her company, Recompose, places a body in a hexagonal steel container filled with alfalfa, wood chips and straw.

The container is then shut, and the body decomposes naturally within 30 days, creating two wheelbarrows' worth of soil."

I think I'd prefer my remains to be put into a large nutribullet until blended into a fine, foamy liquid and then delicately poured onto arid soil, turning into a moist, fertile piece of land.[^]

Yeah, itís pretty sad isnít it? I still donít know what drives people to do that. Cowardice and a lack of contentment in their own life I would guess.

I have looked into being turned into diamonds and each of my kids have one each on a piece of jewellery. I don't want a grave which become a burden to my close family who feel guilty if they don't go see your grave and tend too it but get upset all over again if they do, and then eventually be forgotten about.

On a philosophical note (we do have funeral businesses) it is interesting to discuss what happens at the end. Some think those remaining have the right to decide whilst others say it is those leaving.
I always tease my missus about her musical playlist (for the pub). Iíve said Iím gonna change it for mine cos I wonít hear mine.
