Not that much wrong last night - apart from

1. Britt is a passenger
2. We lost our heads when Ayala - was rightly sent off(under today's rules)[sad]

We played the ball about well and had great movement from Besic, Wing and Howson.

Just shows how one poor ball can change a game....

Tony Pulis blamed the red card but by then we should have been at least up.
Ayala the liability was the main problem he just got caught last night when will he learn

The fact that the players often lose their heads at the slightest sign of adversity is a reflection on the manager.

The fact that no matter how well we play we are still never comfortable is also a reflection on the manager. Under AK if we were a goal up you would be confident we would finish 1-0. I know we haven't lost from being ahead much but we have given away plenty of really sloppy goals and even with our excessive defenders and holding midfielders I am never confident of us not conceding.

the two losses must feel like the end of the world for this team. Let's face it we do enough to draw or win games-- we've never been prolific nor have we certain with our defensive duties. Granted we have some games coming which could define our season but it's fair to say that this current squad would be an embarrassment to the Premier League-- we'd get thrashed out of sight. Therefore we need a new start in the summer, a new backroom and a new philosophy otherwise I can only see this club dropping further.

Started quick off the blocks, huffed and puffed, got a deflected goal. Hit the panic button with the red card and lost our heads, sounds to be the norm at the moment.

We played better against Blackburn with 10 men back in December. Last night we just looked like we'd lost all belief when Ayala went off and were expecting them to beat us.

Played well for 50-55 minutes but the tide had started to turn just before the sending off and they probably would have got back into it regardless.

We had already started to retreat before the sending off.

You are wrong, Indeedio. We were still going forward and had lots of chances before the sending off. It was not like Brentford at all when we stopped pressing in second half. Even after their goals we still tried to get forward.

The subs were quite sensible too. Just one of those nights!

I said to my dad just before the sending off we were showing some great movement and passing, especially down the right.

The usual wets displaying Teesside grit and determination in backing their club/team/manager![:D]
Club doesn't need them.

There was an inevitable storm after the red card/goal: I think any attacking team would be flying in those circumstances and Preston were no different.

However, I thought we weathered that ok, and got back on the front foot. I particularly recall Wing having a decent effort.

Their winner had a slice of luck, but they anticipated and we didn't. Randolph may have been slow out, but the amount of spin on the ball did make it dip viciously. He's still well in credit with me.

Britt looked like he'd a fire lit under him for the first 20 minutes or so: maybe a reaction to being taken off at the weekend? Still, he missed his big chance just before half time and, like all strikers, he'll be judged on goals.

at full strength we closed them down in their third, they never changed it, kept trying to play it out from the back, got closed down, hoofed it and we won it back and went at them

when we went down to 10 it allowed them to play their game passing it up to our box then pinging it about looking for an opening, our lads were dead on their feet, howson in particular, it was a matter of time, ayalas red being overturned just rubs salt in the wound really
