What little respect I had for TP has totally evaporated

How can Steve Gibson tolerate the home performances we are enduring under Tony Pulis.
The spark has been sucked out of this squad by his style of play.
It was a questionable sending off last night but the overall performance was poor again.
Another season at least in the Championship is all this guy has guaranteed.

You obviously either weren't there or spent the evening in the bogs.

We played well last night.

Seems strange to lose your final respect after last night. I'm getting the impression that most people think we played well last night and probably should have won.... but then went down to ten men, and it all changed.

If you call that playing well I think a trip to the opticians is needed.

We did play well, could and should have been further ahead.

The red card changed the game.

Thoughts echoed by Sky Sports, BBC, the Preston manager himself.

As much as Id like to lay the blame for last night with TP, its very hard.

We made enough chances and looked well in control until the red card.

that said. Pulis out!!! (at the end of the season)

For God's sake, we played well last night. How on earth can you blame the manager for that?! Jesus wept!!

We played better in the first half, but were already on the pulis backfoot in the second half before the sending off.

They had 60% possession.
They had 6 shots on target to our 4.
They won 2-1.

It was already "happening again" before the sending off.

We had at least 3 more good chances at the start of second half including Howson missing an absolute sitter from about 6 yards.

The lower shots on target show the problem we had last night (i.e. our players can't hit the proverbial barn door), not that we didn't play well overall. You're trying to make it sound like we were under the cosh before the sending off.

There's plenty of people who want TP out who admitted they couldn't blame him last night as he played a positive team who gave a good performance but was ultimately let down by school boy errors and rash stupidity (and an over eager ref). That's fair enough. To do otherwise shows either an agenda or trolling.

As much as though Iím no Pulis fan, I thought we played well last night until the sending off. Got to be fair and call it as you see it.

What is "playing well"? Completely subjective measure, that's what.

Last 3 home performances have all been decent, so it's frustrating that we've only managed to accumulate 3 points from a possible 9.

Pulis killed it for us on Saturday with his substitution and the ref killed it for us last night with the sending off.

Ultimately though, it's about taking your chances. Howson missed a sitter last night and I think if he'd have scored it would have knocked the stuffing out of them and we'd have won comfortably.

Derek we did not play well we lost again when we had dominated play the final ball was not there again. Yes there was a lot to admire if passing the ball to a teammate is your idea of good football but I want to see an end product in the final third.
Besic had his best game for a while but there were to many wild shots and a total lack of confidence in front of goal. But if you are happy with that and think we played well I respect your views and opinions

If you need an end product to class it as playing well, there will be very, very few games where a team don't win that you'd class as playing well.

OP you've been very critical of Pulis for at least two months judging from your historical posts so last night was hardly the seminal moment you talk of....

I don't like Pulis but I struggle to criticise him after last night. Luck seems to be against us at the moment. Hopefully we might get some on Saturday.

We did play well last night, for most of the first half and up until the sending off anyway, but its all relative. We have had to put up with so much dross this season that it was better than what we've become accustomed to, but it still wasn't that good.

'We didn't play well Derek'?! Really Smogmeister, really?! Or do you just have an agenda.

Preston didn't have a kick till that ridiculous sending off. We hit the post twice early on amongst numerous other chances.

I get it, you don't like Pulis and you won't be happy till he's gone. Fine, enjoy Woodgate and Fleming's reign.

Right, so as first thought, we're equating "playing well" with winning.

Can't argue with that, we definitely didn't win last night.

We have scored 11 home league goals in 6 months.
And won 3 times in 14 home league matches.
We lost, again.

I watched both games against Newport and Burton this year-- both games told us where we're at-- a very low ebb. Losses don't do anything more than add to player unrest, fan contempt and management derailment. Like many have suggested, it doesn't matter how much you put into running around or creating the odd nice passing movement -- if you don't stick the ball into the net you're not going anywhere other than down.

we cannot really complain about a Pulis team playing dire football. What else would you expect.
