If 4000 travelling fans can't motivate

then it is worrying, they always seem to do this on a big occasion, they've done it when we have had a full house, on Boxing Day against Sheff Wed, now again here with a massive travelling army, any time they need a bit of momentum, they just seem to blow it.......why???

We drew an away game. We didn't blow anything.

Why not highlight the games where we have won in front if a big crowd.

Or are you only happy when you are looking for the negatives?

Because they are over paid, mercenary journeymen who do not give a toss about the people on the other side of the wall.

Agreed [^]
They are pathetic. The Newport game did it for me. [:(]

It was the largest away support this season.

It's almost as if the number of fans should decide the outcome of a game.

Sometimes a big away following *can* smack a bit of a lads' reunion tbh. Not convinced it affects the volume of support they give the team, though.

I can think of a few games down the years where a big away following has been a bit of an anticlimax like Doncaster under Karanka and a couple of times at Blackpool

How come whenever we don’t play well people always use the same words instead of breaking down why we weren’t good? This team has absolutely no issues with “motivation”, “drive”, “passion”, “working hard” all the words people who don’t really understand what they’re watching go to when we don’t win.

We lack quality, that’s our issue. It’s absolutely nothing to do with motivation or team spirit.

agree with that Chappy. We just don't have any guile. I think Vickers summed it up earlier in the season when he said we were a team of siege towers ambling up and down the pitch; destroy all in our wake, but not very nimble.

Granted we've obscenely overpaid for most of the players in this team but I honestly believe they have quality. The coaching staff for me are not getting it out of them. Every player but a couple have performed to the best of their standards at other clubs until they come to us.

Britt at Forest. Flint at Bristol. Clayton for us. Fletcher has been bang in form at the top of L1. Hugill at Preston. Downing at times last season.

I honestly think we have quality players but we've had it hammered into us so much via press conferences that they're a bunch of no-hopers that I think we and they believe it.

"Britt at Forest. Flint at Bristol. Clayton for us. Fletcher has been bang in form at the top of L1. Hugill at Preston. Downing at times last season."

Britt is performing for us as he always has. His record confirms this. Fletcher too. Hugill went to West Ham before us, but was never really prolific at Preston. I don't think your examples really back up what you are saying if I'm honest.

You can use that argument through history. 40,000 couldn't motivate us against Orient, Wolves, etc. 32,000 couldn't motivate us against Cardiff in the cup.

We tried but you cant motivate mediocre inconsistency by singing and chanting to some of the urchins in the red shirts.

A choir of virgin angels couldnt motivate Hughill to turn into a striker, or Besic from an egotist to a midfielder with 1% of Mikkel`s class.

We had a smallish crew at Brentford but the players were switched on and we all went home happy.

A good crowd V Forest and Villa at home made little difference....

We have a limited inconsistent group of players who on days like yesterday are not worth a sore throat....

Like others I did sing and clap but Hugill wasnt going to score in a month of sundays and savill may have done better setting up a deckchair next the dugout.

'we drew an away game'

Not that old win your home games and draw away games chestnut

That thought process is as old as the hills, we played against a team with about a quarter of our wage bill and couldn't beat them

What does home or away have to do with anything, our away form is better than our home form etc etc

We played weaker opposition, opposition with far less resources than us and failed again, so in that regard, it was a less than optimal result, its absurd to harp on about 'any away point is a good point' mentality, just ridiculous

Yet you're the only one "harping on" about it.
You've created an argument where it doesn't exist.

The comment about we've drawn an away game was to counter the statement that we've "blown it".

Maybe read what has been written in future.

We are a Championship team, we are currently in the top six, the season is not over.

Why should a large following influence the result, especially when many spent their time bellyaching, (I said many, not all)?.

We didn't have many at Bristol early in the season but we won.

Do I have a desire to come on here and let people know I left with ten minutes to go, or that our lads aren't trying, or I'm not renewing?

No. Up the Boro.

Can’t fault the effort yesterday. Better finishing required? Absolutely.
Wigan set up defensively today to stifle us.
Effort was there definitely

Very weird argument that - are you saying that the more fans that back us the better we should play?

How come Sunderland aren't smashing league one, How come Man U are only 4th in the Prem?

The fact is we missed a couple of sitters cos ouyr strikers arent that great. Absoluteky XXXXXX all to do with 4000 people motivating the team ? Strange post
