Boro Foodbank v QPR

Middlesbrough Supporters Forum are organising another foodbank collection for Middlesbrough Foodbank before the next home game v QPR.
Fans are asked to please bring an item of food with them. If everyone brought one tin or packet we could feed every hungry family.
The football club and staff always give generously as well to these foodbanks.
The van will be parked behind the North Stand.

Would you spread the word about this, please.
The first two food banks were really well supported. I imagine the need for food is quite high after the festive period.

How do food banks choose recipients of the food donated as opposed to those who do not qualify, hat is the criteria?

It is very carefully controlled and people are also given advice. Middlesbrough Food Bank can tell you exactly.

It is fair to say people dont go to a foodbank unless they are desperate.

Well done on promoting this Rob. There must be a lot of desperate people in the area. When is the foodbank opening? I could bring quite a few items and go straight to the ground in the morning of Friday evening.

The Young Uns concert reminded of how bad it was in the past on Teesside - eating off newspaper and drinking from jam jars.

Thanks Rob, it was just a general, genuine, question that I did not know the answer to.

Previously I've had one less pint before the game and used the 3+ to fill a bag in the supermarket, 3/5 goes along way in terms of items for the food bank.

The van will come to the ground 2 or 3 hours before kick off I think. But you could donate the night before via Fork in the Road restaurant - they are a collection point for Mbro Food Bank.
Am not sure when foodbank collects itself.we could look it up.

People have to present a referral voucher to collect food from the foodbank, details about that are given on their website.
I will find out where the best place would be to donate the evening before a game. Many thanks for your generosity.

For redwurzel or anyone else unable to bring shopping to drop off on the way to the QPR game next week - below linked are the places and times you can donate food to Middlesbrough Food Bank.
Also on that page is the shopping list they are looking for at present.

Thanks Rob.

The Skint TV programme this week showed how some people are living on less than 1 per day.
