I donít know, maybe years and years of being bang average and watching absolute plodders run up and down the turf has finally caught up with me.

Maybe Iím just disallusioned with football in general or maybe itís Pulisí style.

Iím just not that bothered what happens anymore.

Obviously I want us to do well, but the first time I've looked at the fixture list, seen we're playing Blackburn at home on Sat, and my first instinct was to check the weather forecast.

Maybe it's an age thing? I'm not far off 50 now, and the edge has dwindled.

Or the dreary style we've been acostomed to for the last, well, 10 years or so has finally took it's toll?

No doubt in my mind I'll be renewing next season, early bird, no matter what happens.

Well im no where near 50 and I feel the same.

I realised a couple years back that whats the point in getting so excited over football, wether we win or lose, get promoted or relegated it literally has no effect on my life what so ever. Other than sitting in a seat every other week im not involved in the club, I dont get win/promotion bonuses. I sit and listen to people screaming and shouting and just think why do you care so much to get all worked up.

I need to get some real achievements in my own life rather than getting excited over other people achieving stuff in some weird kind of false fullfilment.

Watching fans argue between themselves about who is better I just find cringey now, 'we' do this and 'we' do that, no you watch some guy do this and that. Or getting so excited because one bunch of people can stand in a stadium and shout louder than another bunch of people, like wow who cares.

Struggling to get rev'd up myself the football is dire to watch, the atmosphere in the stadium is flat (as we have very little to inspire us at the momemt) as the lager in the concourses

I'll still renew as I wouldn't even consider paying walk-up prices. You can afford to miss the odd game compared with match by match prices but I very rarely have a taker for my 'free' ticket.. Yes you can't even give them away to friends and family these days!

Itís funny how people say they donít care but I think they mix the emotion of apathy and frustration up Jlinardi you say you donít care but you spend an inordinate Amountt of time on a Boro Messageboard criticising the Club and exhibiting anger. That is not the behaviour of someone who doesnít care but you try and disguise it as apathy.

Over the last few years I have definitely dropped off the amount of games I attend.

I think it's been since that god awful prem season under AK. We spent years trying to get promoted and when we did we give it no 'shot' what so ever. The signings were dull mercenaries and we actually made no attempt to win some matches (regularly going 50-60 mins without a shot or even corner).

So now I just think is it even worth going up? We will be playing for 40 points and simply being cannon fodder for clubs who think it's 'ok' to buy fullbacks and goal keepers for 80mil[:O].

I guess with me I've fallen out of love with most football. I used to be able to watch any prem game or international and enjoy it as football. Now I hardly ever sit and watch a whole live TV game (to the extent I'm binning sky).

The prem cash cow that's the holy grail just doesn't do it for me. I also have to say after years of AK and Pulis negative stuff that hardly helps. Also watching teams like Liverpool and City kinda make you see that football can be entertaining.... It seems a while since I've thought that at Boro.

I look at us trying to sign players. The wages being thrown about for bang average players is awful (Bolassie 70k a week). Also look at the millions we have spent on players we cannot give away... Its frankly obscene!!!

Maybe I am just getting old or think of better ways to spend my money[rle].

I like to think I will get my boro mojo back. I am off go QPR next week so who knows they will maybe entertain the pants off me [;)]

I love to see Boro do well but it bothers me less and less as I get older.

Job, career,
Family
Health and well-being
Wife
Children
House
Investments
Security
Pension
The list goes on .....

All of the above are more life critical than the outcome of a parochial football club that employ rich commercially minded people from out of the area with no affiliation to it who wear red tops in the main, who live out of the area because they donít feel comfortable mixing and socialising with people who live in the area who in part fund their lavish lifestyles. They drive better cars than the fans in general, have better looking wives and send their kids to private schools.

Never struggled to care about the Boro but the lows are now like water of a ducks back with me.

I feel fortunate to have witnessed many highs, some that will probably never be repeated in my lifetime.

I had a neighbor who went home and away for his whole life. He passed away weeks before we won the Carling Cup.

Perspective is important. Its a game, that's all, just a game.

It is age I think. I used to boil with anger at football. Now I'm older I'm disappointed for 1 hour tops after a bad game. It's age and anyone around my age 38 grew up during boros most successful period so our expectations were higher than previous generation and the new generation of fans. We are where we should be now, I'll get crucified for this but I think even this team is over achieving for the standard of players in it. It's boring but we're doing better than I thought we would be. Football in generally is just not that exciting when you get older, I preferred watching lower leagues live these days, I live in leamington now and go to their games, I was talking to the chairman last week behind the goal and feeding his dog treats, I didn't even realise he was the chairman

By the way BigJim I know plenty of our big big city neighbour clubs fans who are as disillusioned as any Boro fan you will meet.

I love it, and don't think that will ever change. I have never ever seen it as a chore, ever, if I did I simply wouldn't go. Life's too short. For me its a good opportunity to get back up to Teeside a couple of times a month, see my mates/family, and continue the Saturday afternoon tradition my family has had for a long time. Makes it all the sweeter if we win, and we're in a promotion race.

I honestly wouldn't log in on here most days and chat about it if I didn't love it, I don't understand the point in that?

If I stopped going I would miss it enormously, although I can't get to every game anymore.

I look forward to games however we are doing at the time, and if we lose, I am p1ssed off for about 30-60 minutes then I get back to my son/wife and the other stuff that is frankly more important. Thats because I'm an adult, when I was a teenager I would sulk about it for hours/days and rant and rave and stuff.

I still enjoy sitting down to watch a big PL game when I can, but its quite rare I can do that now, its usually just on in the background and I keep an eye on it. I do find the PL a bit of a circus now too, but the football can still be good.

I am liking football less and less. It is impossible to watch a game these days without having to witness diving and cheating. The analysis bores me to tears and the pundits are overpaid and you wouldn't believe some of them had ever played the game when you hear their knowledge of the rules. Even Boro players are diving now. 2 bookings for it in one match last week.

I still watch Boro as much as I can. I don't like the style of football we play but I still get the buzz when I watch and I'm never bored. It is only hindsight after the match I look back and think that was rubbish. I rarely even bother putting any other game on TV any more though.

They're sitting in the pub spouting negative comments about a team they really love and spent all their money on going to Port Vale on a Monday night and Tranmere on a Friday night. Good point, the price makes the current garbage particularly unpalatable.

Some of you need to get your heads around that fans aren't complaining about our league position or throw the toys out the pram every time we lose, it's more the fact that we spend a fortune to follow this football club and get served up utter unwatchable garbage.

I struggle to care even when we win and I know I'm not alone in that. We will do fine on the pitch with Pulis but he will knock 5-10k off the gate during his tenure.

I've missed 5 games in 26 years and it may well be 6 on Saturday.

Anyone else struggling to care?

Im starting to think Middlesbrough FC isn't for me anymore. I have always loved the club. Its the club I grew up and have always supported. My dad, grandad, all my uncles and all my mates support the boro. I grew up in one of the towns estates and love the town. However, I think the changes in the club have moved away from what I relate to.

The pricing out of working class fans means its realistically out of the price range for a lot of people in Middlesbrough. This has had a huge effect on the atmosphere and passion in the ground which at times is just about non existant. The football songs/chant that are sang now are of that continental style rather than the traditional boro songs. We have no real anthem like Sheff Utd's greasy chip butty', leeds 'marching on together', liverpool 'you'll never walk alone', Newcastle 'Blaydon races'ect. There seems to be so muchcharacter missing from our club. What really sets us aside from anyother club? JLinardi's post further up this thread typifies what I see in a lot of our supporters at the ground nowadays. I just can't relate to that. I want to see a sea of red, hear the roar of the crowd. You just dont get that now. I hate to say it but Leeds fans (and quite a few others) are head and shoulders above ours. When I walk up to the ground no-one ever seems to be talking about football. Going to the game is just something to do on a saturday afternoon to them like going bowling or going to the cinema. The fans dont wait all week for saturday to come around to go to the games now.

I find our stadium souless and an awful new style version of what modern grounds are. Take the badge off the front of the ground and it could just as easily be leicester, derby or a number of other grounds.

The players who wear the shirt dont seem to care about the club. There is no special place in the heart for the club. Its just the club who gave them the best opportunity at this point in their careers. That said at least we do have a handful of home grown players which is more than can be said for most clubs.

I know Im going to be by myself with these views. I just look at a lot of the fans around me and think I dont view or feel for the club in the same way as they do. The idea of going to a game and sitting there for 90 minutes in almost near silence is alien to me. Its not what I want from a saturday afternoon at the football.

Just nothing to inspire, no imagination or trying something different on a pitch to inspire me. I need to see a bit of imagination, creativity.

I would be more interested if we had more ramirez, tomlin type players even if they were poor and inconsistent.

Games lack even a flash of something special/different and just a glimmer of hope that I might see something different would make me more enthusiastic.

We just don't have it in our locker though. You always know what you are going to get.
