Martin Solveig was the presenter and interviewer. Why did the organisers ask a DJ to interview her? An an idiot DJ to boot.

Heís getting pelters on social media now and his forced apology hasnít helped his image.

Agree Barnes, but it is just fuelling the fire, surely even the most oblivious can see this?

"If she doesn't mind us laughing at her, what harm's been done?"

Its the monumental irony that's attracted headlines, FIFA make a gesture to promote the women's game by awarding a ballon d'or and the first thing she is asked is 'can you twerk for me'? You could write the script. It doesn't really matter whose offended and who isn't.

It was a throwaway comment and not even that bad a one. As someone else has mentioned if that was a girl asking a guy that itíd be taken as fun. The guy would probably enjoy the question.

Sadly these days we have to find ourselves offended by everything. Twitter has given people such a forum to moan about the slightest thing that people feel they must always apologise. Itís really tedious and leads to people being afraid to speak the truth about subjects and ultimately holds us back.

Twerking is a dance invented by a female and performed by a female. The dab is a dance invented by a man and performed by a man.

Now if you're suggesting that one is sexual and one isn't then that opens up another debate about why females feel the need to publicly express their sexuality and men don't.

Nice spot of casual sexism and racism there CardiffDaffs[sad]

I do think people today are overly sensitive about many things that don't warrant it in my opinion... but in this instance i think it's fair that people are talking about it

I'm sure the guy probably just thought it was funny and stupidly didn't think it'd go down badly but he only had one job to do and that was to make the process as professional and respectful as the men's award and failed with some daft joke that shows a lack of respect and acknowledgement of the women's game.

I'm all for a laugh and a joke, even some very dark close to the bone stuff in the right situations but this was a time to just show respect and acknowledge a winner properly.

It doesn't offend me, i just thought there was no need for it and it belittle's her achievements. Just tasteless.

No I wouldnt have been personally offended - but I can understand why any woman would have been.

Her professional achievements were ignored in favour of a stupid joke about her sexuality.

Its not about the offence me or anyone else takes at what happened - its about the fact that she was disrespected and her achievements belittled.

Why do so many on here not see that?

The argument that 'people are too sensitive these days' ignores that fact that women in society in general, and certainly in sport, are still not recognized for their skill or performance, but simply viewed on their physical appearance. Those saying it was 'just a joke' totally miss the point.

Iím pretty sure presenting her with a balůn díor was a recognition of her sporting ability.

Just occurred to me that many whom are offended probably havenít seen the full video? I can only find the bit where he asks her if she can twerk but then dances to Frank Sinatra with her. Ergo no twerking. Also I donít speak French so Iím not sure what else was said. That is another sad indictment of the modern world. Not only do we get offended on other peopleís behalf, we get offended without learning about the context of a comment or if it was exactly what people think it was. People actually seek things to be upset about.

I must admit that I have not watched the incident back myself so I am in no position to criticise one way or the other.
My point in the question of 'would it bother you if Modric had been asked to shake his @r$e'? was to see if it would then be offensive, or as stated a bit of fun, the majority would agree that it would be a bit of fun. This then leads me to the question of why is it a bit of fun when directed towards a man and offensive and sexist when directed towards a woman? After all im sure there are men out there that think Luca has quite a nice derriere and would like to see it shaken.
I think that ultimately Ada Hegerberg, thats right I have used her name which is something that most on here seem to have neglected, should be the judge on whether she found it offensive or not, not a group of middle aged men on a small message board! (maybe she has and I havnt seen this, in that case i stand corrected).

She looked extremely uncomfortable at the time, no doubt he's apologised and she's accepted the apology hence her diplomatic interview afterwards, but no one can tell me she took it as a hilarious bit of fun at the time, if you watch the video.
