Time's up for Gordon Taylor?

£2.3m salary, over 30 years in the job.
Former players critical of him. What took them so long to notice?

He won’t have been on that 30 years ago, but yes, it’s a ridiculous salary

Its an elected position, there would need to be an election.

I saw Dion Dublin talking nonsense about it yesterday, absolutely clueless - to think for one minute that the General Secretary of a trade union would step down because there was a 'call for it' from ex players (members) just shows you how little is understood - he was paying 3% for all of his career - you would think he would have read the rules of the club..

BTW - If there is any players or ex players reading this, any chance you could give me your PFA yearly membership badges ? - [:D] - don't hoy em in the bin !

"Its an elected position, there would need to be an election."

You do realise that one of the complaints is that he doesn't hold elections and that he is accused of flouting union rules so to do?

It appears that it is you that doesn't know what they are talking about.

Spending pittances on dementia studies, kick it out etc whilst at the same time taking millions on salary and buying expensive Lowrie paintings. Career misogynist, gambler flouting the rules of his own members, there's plenty.

Plus he was a journeyman player who you'd expect be sympathetic with the rank and file.

Re ex-players not counting, do trade unions not assist retirees and their widows with pension problems etc?

I was surpised to read this week that £26.6million of PFAs annual £27.7m income comes from the PL. Surely there is a potential conflict of interests? Also they have £50m in the bank. They seem to be better at finding money than spending it.

It’s a tough call on how much salary he should be on imo. I mean he’s the chief executive and should be on the same salary or close to it as his contemporaries— if he isn’t then he wouldn’t command respect within the industry— it’s jist the way it works in the capitalist world. Now should he be still in the position is another matter of course for debate. As I understand it there’s no election process for his role so therefore he’s kind of untouchable— unless he’s conducted acts fraud or any other criminal acts that have been covered up which I severely doubt.
