one in village .. end of discussion

Although Parly Road does scraps and is open more regularly, but i've found when i've had to use Parly Road (when the village one is shut the food is of slightly less quality)

I always went to the one in Oliver Street back in the 80s when I was a kid. When I went in many years later the same lass was still serving in there!

I prefer the food in Oliver Street, but rarely go nowadays as the owner has developed into a right miserable cvnt over the years, whereas Parly Road are a friendly bunch.

Parly road has hardly changed in 30 years. Even the staff dont seem to age.

Parliament Road for me......

& I agree, its getting very `edgy` down that road, some un-savouries & few dodgy crowds `knocking about`......

I too have had issue with Peter from Oliver St despite me knowing him for 30 years
I ordered fish and chips then the girlfriend rang me and asked me to get her a fish
I asked politely if he could put another in and if I could have some scraps
He replied aggressively, "why don't you ask for these things when you order!?"

I was about to tell him where to stick them but A) I was hungry and B) I wouldn't have been able to go back in 😁

I've always found him chatty but have seen the other side people mention with other customers whilst in the shop.

Seem to remember the guy who had it before him being more customer friendly even put you some onion rings in if you asked him nicely Peter won't even entertain it if its not on the board. The prices have crept up too but where hasn't. The portions are bigger than partly road and nicer imo especially the chow mein

Scraps are in short supply at the village too and the chips are better from parly road. The curry seems the same

What annoys me is if I go in for a bag of chips I'm still made to wait until the bigger orders before mine are dished out

Jam, never been mugged myself but know a few people who have around the area. I'm originally from there and a big lad but at times it is edgy and rough.

YK Chows has the best curry sauce anywhere. Parly Road has slightly better curry sauce than Oliver St, but both way ahead of anywhere else.

Scott and Lily(Chow) Peter's sister had
Oliver street before Peter. Their son Steven makes the curry sauce for both shops.

I've been down there at night, it is very busy but fine.
People seem to have an irrational fear of Parliament Rd.

I grew up on Parly Road. Lived there for years. People from elsewhere always had an irrational fear of the area. I moved away from the region in my 20s for work. I still occasionally meet people who grew up in other parts of the Boro who are surprised that I’m not an illiterate thug. I don’t know where the reputation came from. It was never an affluent area but the people have always been sound.

richie done it many times, besides a few people asking for spare change, which you get all over, it was not a problem
