Boro clearly arent that bad.....

We`ve played some dire stuff recently but we are still joint top - having beaten West Brom, Sheffield United and drawn with Leeds....
TP may have had a point (excuse the pun) when he said a point at home against Rotherham was still a point.
Ide be more worried if we shipped 4 like WBA or had the inconsistency and negativity of Forest.
Im amazed at this league - its never been this roller coaster (or is the grey matter failing?).
Derby are in for a 1-0 spanking on Satda.
In TP we trust.
Bring em on!

***joint top***

Stop it. We are second. Nobody said 'we are joint top' last week.

We might be second/joint top etc, but have you seen how many teams below us are only 5-6 points behind? Seriously?

Teams as far down as Aston Villa could easily be up there with a couple of wins and a couple of losses on our part - it's very very tight.

Don't kid yourself. Looks more closely. It's very tight with the top 12 or so teams. Lots of movement to come and we need to be winning games if we want to stay up there.

Look at Birmingham for example. In the bottom 4 not long ago, now they are on 20 points - only 6 points behind Boro.

"I think we can all read the table moxxey!"

No sh*t Sherlock? The point is that although Boro "aren't that bad" there's a lot of teams that can also same the same thing this season.

Some people reply with the oddest/pointless comments.

Think positive moxxey, we are 2nd, our aim is to go up so at the moment so we're on track, it was always going to be the case that teams would be close with points behind us, the table is 14 games old, did you think we'd be in this position after 14 games?

Would you swap us for any other team, I wouldn't

So erimus, presumably you have been racing to the bookies to put a major chunk on us to win the league?
Thought not.

We are a hard working, applied team of limited ability. I dont think that will get us close to top 2 and I cant see Pulis having the nouse to get past better teams in the playoffs given his horror show last May - even if we are in the play offs.

Never put a bet on in my life, though one thing is certain & has ben said many, many times, you never back the Boro & never back against em

That's your opinion & I respect that, I think we'll be in the top 6 & better if we get the signings he wants

Just my opinion mind

A top class striker coming in January will clinch it I reckon. Remember Fulham last season.

Oh for another young Kike. He cost 3.5 M Euros a few years ago.

And I mean Kike 1, not Kike 2 or Kike 3 or Kike4.

We came up just short last season, but I think we are doing marginally better this year.

Millwall (A)
This year 2-2; Last 1-2
+1 Pt

Sheff U (H) 3-0; 1-0 -
Brum (H) 2-0; 1-0 -
Bristol C (A) 2-0; 1-2 +3Pts
WBA (H) 1-0 (replace Villa) 0-1 +3Pts
Leeds (A) 0-0; 1-2 +1Pt
Norwich (A) 0-1; 0-1 -
Bolton (H) 2-0; 2-0 -
Swansea 0-0 (replace Wolves) 1-2 +1Pt
Hull (A) 1-1; 3-1 -2Pts
Ipswich (A) 2-0; 2-2 +2Pts
Forest (H) 0-2; 2-0 -3Pts
Sheff W (A) 2-1; 2-1 -
Rotherham (H) 0-0 (replace Sunderland) 1-0 -2Pts

TOTAL - 4 pts better off (like for like) over the first 1/3rd of a season. That would equate to about 12-13 pts better than last year come the end of the season. Possibly good enough for second.

We are very limited, particularly from open play, but we are also very effective. Add in a bit more quality in the final 3rd and we could storm the second half of the season.

“We are a hard working, applied team of limited ability. I dont think that will get us close to top 2”

I fully agree with that Indeedido, we, Boro, remain desperate for the flair and pace that Karanka pleaded for, Monk was told to buy and Pulis himself asked for. Gibson, Bausor, Gill and co have consistantly failed to deliver and until they do I will doubt we will be anything better than play offs. As you say going by the mess he made of that would worry me.

That said, He has done well with what he has at his disposal and credit for that, although I think lady luck has played her part too. Since Leeds (sheff weds apart) the football has been poor fayre.

“ one thing is certain & has been said many, many times, you never back the Boro & never back against em”

Something I have posted as others have many a time. I rarely ever bet on Boro. The last time I actually bet on a Boro game against them was that time we played Everton at home under McClaren and I thought he was playing the kids being 2 days after the Uefa Cup semi and we had man utd 2 days later and Bolton 2 days after that. I backed Everton to win at 4/1, I thought the bookies were mad. McFadden scored in the 89th minute for the toffees to win 1-0. I really thought the curse existed in that game. I must admit it felt wrong collecting my winnings mind.
