One of the goals (Chadwick's?) was direct from a corner.

Always remember the ground only had 3 stands , Yorkshire had a cricket pitch alongside the footie pitch . After one of the boro goals a load of united fans came across the cricket pitch and attacked us . Oh happy days ( a bit scary really )

Yes Chadwick scored direct from a corner.

Inswinger from the left corner flag.

Only goal of the first half.

Kear was brought in to replace Chadwick - all 3 wingers played that day due to injuries and bizarrely all 3 scored.

First away win I ever saw and only my second away game, the first being a 0-3 defeat at Hull earlier that season. A gang of us from school on the Bee-Line trip (remember those). Yes, three wingers scored for us and Eddie Colquhoun, I think, made it 1-1 for the Blades but we recovered to win. Strange how I remember that, when I can't remember who scored some of this season's Boro goals, never mind the opposition's (apart from last week-Forest always play well against us to spite me, but that's another story). I recall some of the antics of the Blades fans as well, which was a bit scary for a 14 year old. Only downside to a great day was that peer pressure on the aformentioned Bee-Line bus led to me starting smoking, which took me another 10 years to stop! But that was part of the fun of those away trips-illicit smoking and beer! Thanks for the memory, Erimus [^]

'First away win I ever saw and only my second away game, the first being a 0-3 defeat at Hull earlier that season.'

That Hull game was my second away - my first was the season before at Norwich, which we won with nine men.

'Strange how I remember that, when I can't remember who scored some of this season's Boro goals, never mind the opposition's'

Yes, this, if you substitute 'any' for 'some'.

A victory that took us joint top with Hull City after the morning's leaders Blackburn lost to Carlisle. The day of the opening ceremony of the 1968 Olympics, Yorkshire playing Ulster at rugby at Harrogate, the day after Apollo 7 was launched and the day of a major fire at the Imperial War Museum.

Eh, lad, takes you back!

Ha. Reading that reminds me that my first away game was in fact that season - the one Hickton was set off in (as well as McMordie) - not as I said above.
