Starting together upfront today for the Central Coast Mariners.

A line I never thought I would write, I have to be honest.

Against a select team who had not played together before and are at a very low standard.

I really don't think Bolt is good enough for a professional team. It' just a case of whether his marketability is worth more to the team when they don't have things such as relegation to worry about.

I reckon your right Jan, I think they will sign him regardless if they believe he is good enough or not.

Second, I'm fairly confident, I would have netted, but his first is decent enough (if a little fortuitous).

Sign him on, etc.

The way he scored that first goal was Reminscent of Lukaku, a little clumsy looking stumble before a clean strike is classic Lukaku.

Has he got any pace?

"Has he got any pace?"

From what I have seen of him he doesn't even look that fast when playing. He's not like Traore who is lightning quick off the mark. I guess it also shows running with a ball is completely different. He's also not training just to sprint anymore so that will have taken some of his pace away.

Oddly he was never a "fast starter" as a sprinter but would maintain his speed better than lesser mortals.

Did he ever run the indoor 60m?

The second goal sums up the standard of opposition. I e seen better defenders in schoolboy level.

On that performance Bolt still has a long way to go before he's at A-league standard. Don't think he'll be offered a contract, but you never know.

Having said that, his first goal was the best bit of play I've seen from him. Made a good run, held off the defender, didn't miscontrol the ball, put it nicely onto his preferred foot, struck it cleanly and powerfully and on target. Any one or more of those things he could easily have stuffed up.

Surely it would be sensible to offer him a contract as a sort of on field PR Manager. He draws publicity and may sell shirts. They can always bring him on with ten minutes to go to run about a bit and distract defenders.

Can any team set aside a place for a non-playing player when there's a squad limit of 25 players?

A lot of negativity here. I acknowledge that commerciality might be wagging the dog but I think some folk are being too hasty in dismissing Bolts ability. Havent we witnessed that a bit nearer home?
Time will tell.

Fair play to him! He’s said for quite a while he wants to play football and he’s making it happen.

That first goal was well taken and like others have said there was plenty of elements which he could have messed up.

If I was CCM I’d be signing him on. Surely he does for them what Beckham did for LA Galaxy. They’d be guaranteed a full house most weeks, and would definitely be on people’s travel list if they’re in Australia, something they probably arent at present. I’d never heard of them before this and probably neither had a lot pro footballers, signing Bolt changes that and probably gives them access to pros in the future that they may not have been able to sign in the past
