GIGS on Teesside
We started this up last week. Because of changes at BBC Tees I am going to bring my Thursday gig guide to this forum for the moment.

Starting with tonight at TSOne
Whirling Dervish present

Idle Promotions & TSOne Middlesbrough bring you another instalment of Whirling Dervish – Middlesbrough's most manic night of original live music!

10:30 *** Pink Tide *** (Indie/Rock)

Rowdy indie-fusion trio from Middlesbrough.

9:45 *** Raising Romulus *** (Alternative/Rock)

Young, exciting alternative rock band from Redcar.

9:00 *** Charlie Thomas - Singer Songwriter *** (Alt-Folk/Acoustic)

Vintage, alternative, American influenced singer-songwriter. His debut EP 'American Death Poems', is a collection of songs inspired by mid-20th Century beat poets.

More to come when I return from the bank

The Drystones

ARC, Stockton

Date: Thu 11 Oct

Time: 8pm

Prices: £8.50 + £0.10 booking fee per ticket

Info: The Drystones are an award winning duo from Somerset. Playing violin and guitar, they've made a big splash since they formed in July 2011. They play a mix of their own tunes and arrangements of folk tunes with their own twist of drive and energy.

They have played festivals all over the country and at their 2013 Glastonbury Festival performance they were highlighted by Steve Lamacq on Radio 2 as his "recommendation of the day". They were the 2015 Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Award winners and were asked by Michael Eavis to play the 2015 Glastonbury Festival when Joan Armatrading had to cancel! Their third CD is a Songlines "Top Of The World" album.

Saturday - an all time great at ARC, Stockton

Albert Lee

Date: Sat 13 Oct

Time: 8pm

Prices: £23 + £0.10 booking fee per ticket

Info: Undoubtedly one of the finest guitarists the world has ever seen, Double Grammy Award Winner Albert Lee is also an accomplished piano player and has a fine singing voice. He has a soulful voice but can equally ‘tear it up’ rock ‘n roll style.

Co-writer of Country Boy and writer of many other great songs, always in great demand by other artists, he has played on countless sessions worldwide. He has appeared and recorded with many of the finest artists in the music industry, including Glen Campbell, Dave Edmunds, Dolly Parton, Bobby Bare, Joan Armatrading, Ricky Scaggs, Joe Cocker, Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, The Blue Caps, Robert Wells and Earl Scruggs.

Albert was a member of The Everly Brothers Band, Emmylou Harris’s Hotband and Bill Wymans’ Rhythm Kings and toured extensively with them. He also toured with his own band, Hogan’s Heroes for many years.

In November 2002 Albert was amongst other world class names appearing at the Royal Albert Hall in the ‘Concert for George’, a tribute to George Harrison. In 2007, 2010 and 2013 Albert appeared at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival in Chicago.

He appeared at a tribute concert honouring The Everly Brothers at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio in 2014 duetting with Emmylou Harrison, Peter Asher and Alison Morer. This was an amazing event with a whole host of stars..Vince Gill, Graham Nash, Alison Krauss, Rodney Crowell to name but a few. Don Everly joined the ensemble on stage for the encore and sang on the last verse of Bye Bye Love.

In December 2017 Albert joined Emmylou Harris, Glen D Harding, Ricky Skaggs, The Whites and Jerry Douglas for a benefit concert at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.

In 2017 Albert was awarded a trailblazer award by the Americana Society of the UK.

Twisterella - has its own thread and is completely SOLD OUT for Saturday 13th October.
The Middlesbrough multi venue festival is going from strength to strength.
Click the link below for full band list - Henry Carden's spotify play list and all the latest news.
Too many great bands to mention - some tips - I have rated singer/songwriter Bryde for sometime. My neighbour Leddie MC is wonderful. Who doesn't like the incredible Black Sheep Frederick Dickens - talk about presence. Avalanche Party are wondrous. And Howl and the Hum have become everyone's faves. And Harri Endersby is special. Be Quiet Shout Loud have been knocking everyone for six for a long time. Pop Up boys Nel Unlit will draw you in as will Dressed Like Wolves. How could I forget The Mighty Redcar Dylan Cartlidge?

GIGS on Teesside

Two epic gigs for you on Sunday. Saving something special for the end of the weekend.

Sunday 14 October Waiting Room

Not K-Pop! Korea's biggest indie pop band. Say Sue Me are making waves with their infectious-surf-rock beach sound played at at a great lick. Fantastic catchy jangly pop-a-billy riffs with cool happy vocals from Sumi Choi.

Three tracks on their debut album were playlisted on BBC 6 Music where Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe and Don Letts have championed the band as well as Elton John on Beats1 and KEXP.

Say Sue Me are a break-through act of 2018 - Come on feel the buzz!

Supported by the brilliant Moniker (Ex Furry Hug)

Tim Loud Band
Cherry & Peesh

Drawing influence from a menagerie of folk, punk and hardcore bands and praised for their high octane live performances, they're intent on highlighting socio-political issues of the 21st century to a new generation of punks.

You can listen to them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFgi_wxZvGg

Supports bands will include tour support and fellow TNS Record labelmates The Tim Loud Band, Manaking - a one-man performance artist from Bradford and Cherry B & Peesh from Harlow/Northumberland following on from their successful debut at the Interrobang? gig.
