...amidst the doom and gloom. Top top keeper. Amongst the best weve had and weve had some good ones [fb]

Disagree. He is OK. He would be a top keeper if he didnt lose concentration at times and his kicking isnt the best.

I agree, but I think you will have a fair few reply's saying how rubbish he is.

Hadn't seen him play that much before he joined us but I think he is very solid all round.

RiochRevival: "and his kicking isnt the best"

I'll give you that.

I think he is pretty decent on crosses but opinions differ. These goalkeeper discussions often end up with people who claim Pears was better with crosses than Schwarzer though (and I was a huge fan of Pears).

"Top top keeper. Amongst the best weve had and weve had some good ones"

No on the first point and no on the second. He is average/good but no more. He couldn't compete with Pears, Platt, or even Schwarzer. Not even sure whether he is better than Allan Miller.

Simply doesn't command his area at all.
Good shot stopper.

I guess it's all opinions...

"Not even sure whether he is better than Allan Miller."

I would rate Alan Miller below most goalkeepers I have seen play for Boro. Randolph is certainly above him.

It is about opinions tbf, but as a former goalkeeper I would marginally choose Miller [xx(] did i say that out loud [cr]

It is all about opinions but as a current (still, just about) goalkeeper I would never even consider Miller over Randolph.

Hes a decent keeper and is usually solid and better than Miller for sure. He does have lapses In concentration and hes not great on crosses, he likes sticking to his line more than he should, in fact much more.

Still probably in the top 5 keepers in the division though.

Good keeper. Probably in the top 5/6 in the league which is solid enough.

Schwarzer was a decent keeper but he also had a couple Floors

1.Often rooted to a spot when opposite teams scored (brad jones the same trait so not sure if it was the training at the time).

2. Was a poor kicker the same as Randolph.

Is it me or have we had a lot of left footed keepers over the years

"Simply doesn't command his area at all."

That's why Flint was a top priority. He can go and attack incoming deliveries knowing he won't get clattered by his keeper.

When we get promoted I can see Pulis bringing in somebody like Fraser Foster as the number 1.

Another disagree.

Completely agree with this comment. As mentioned above, he does not command his area.

The ball comes across and inside his 6 yard box far too many times with him planted to his line. I don't know whether he's a good catcher of the ball because he's never in a position to do so.

the pre-season 4-3 defeat, cant remember who against, but i do remember he should have saved / prevented all 4
At the time i was hoping he had gotten some bad form out of the way but might be a reason we went for Lonergan
