Negatives and positives from the transfer window

Negatives - didnít add to squad depth and loan signings are great for now but in 12 months time we have too build again.

Positives - youth could possibly get a chance and balancing the books or making profit canít do any harm for the future.

The youth was here but if we signed 7 players then they would be signed to play meaning less opportunities for the youth to get a chance.

For example if we signed bolasie Adomah and another winger then tavernier wouldnít get a chance or will get less of a chance.

Not the case though, is it ?

Take Besic for example.......he signs on loan with a permanent transfer agreed and signed, to kick in when the window opens in January.
We may get half a dozen such cases this month, so doom & gloom, it is not [^]

One issue with getting besic in on loan instead of signed on is he uses up one of two loan signings allowed over the age of 23.

I'm not as keen bringing in other teams young players on loan if they are stopping ours coming through

That's only if you bring 4 in from one team

8 allowed in total, but only 5 in any 18 man 1st team match squad

This hasnít happened. You literally pulled this out of thin air.

If we'd got all these signings in earlier there's every chance we might not have witnessed Wing staking his claim for a first team place with a terrific display v Sheff U. Similarly,Tav getting on and doing well v Millwall and Chapman being on the bench.

Despite what TP says we have a squad capable if competing for the play offs. I imagine if we are in with a chance of automatic come January we will be a bit more spendthrift. At the moment I guess the club need to plan for next season in the Championship, so have budgeted to be competitive rather than smash the league?

I just feel with loan signings are beneficial while you have them but for example we sign bolasie on a 12 month deal and he rips the league apart and becomes player of the year, come next summers transfer window Everton might not want to sell him or want a higher fee. Then if you donít get him on a permanent deal youíre trying to find a replacement which isnít always easy as we know only too well.

Overall Iím happy with the window we lost 4 squad players, 3 of which we probably all thought realistically could go on. Yet we still have a fifteen million pound striker, solid centre backs, a good spine too the team and experience in the likes of downing with youth to go with it who can learn from other members of the squad.

positive - first time in about 10+ years we have not wasted millions on a total dud.

negative - we still needs wingers like we have done for about 10+ years

I wish we had got Fletcher and Gestede on loan so we could've sent them back like Caleb Folan and Marcus Bent!

Transferred our "stars" and retained some duds.

Positives - left room for a good striker to come in on loan.

Positive - A break from the endless, identical, droning political threads.

Negatives - I would have liked to see a creative midfielder come in.
