It's not the end of the world we only failed to get our targets on permanent deals, we still might be able to get some of them as loans, which if that happens might be better than buying them outright.

No, it's more than that.

It's yet another window that has made the Boro's recruitment team look like rank amateurs.

There's no clear ambition. No clear strategy. No creativity (again) in midfield. We've unloaded our best players and not replaced them. Even the manager doesn't think we have the squad to compete, and can't even bring himself to pretend otherwise to help squad morale. How do you think the team will be feeling after the gaffa admitted he had no faith in them?

Then we were in for 8 players around deadline day. We landed exactly 0 of them. There were no contingencies, no wrapping up business early. At least there were no Guarioura (sp?) panic buys this time around, but if that's the best positive to be found, then it really was a sorry state of affairs.

That is unacceptable. Gibson needs to start to give answers. The club has increasingly become his plaything whilst adoring hoards of so-called RaRas do everything short of writing to the Pope to request canonisation in their efforts to portray him as a Saint.

Neil Bausor seems like an absolute waste of space. I know we complained about Keith Lamb back in the day but name me one Boro fan who, in good faith, would not swap Bausor for Lamb in a heartbeat.

Then there's the shambles of the recruitment department. Who is Adrian Bevington? What has he done to deserve his role as head of recruitment? Gary Gill, bless his heart, has seemingly been nothing more than a "jobs for the old boys" hire.

Being a supporter does not mean adopting a position based on blind faith that Gibbo and the team have a plan and we should not complain. Being a supporter means you're allowed to hurt when you see a team you love being increasingly mismanaged, allowed to speak out when forking out hundreds a year in match tickets is not met by similar ambition from the club and allowed to criticise even SG himself if he deserves it.

All the posters saying "don't panic, we're doing well, stop moaning" remind me of Comical Ali in the last days of the 2003 Invasion of Iraq proclaiming "We are winning" even as coalition forces could be seen advancing in the background.

There will be lots of loan deals in this window as EPL trans look to shed either deadwood or prospects. I doubt very much that we’ll see Besic in a Boro shirt mind you — his agent certainly did him over good and proper.

I agree about Besic, if he does go out on loan it probably won't be us, his agent is probably going to make sure of that.

There will be some dead wood out there and as you said some prospects, hopefully we end up getting some gem like we did Bamford 1st time or the Southampton gadgie, whose name I have forget( getting old).

Kaykeynoway, phew that was some mental outpouring, if I have a dig don't take it personally just a matter of like for like, comical Ali[cr], the biggest difference between people who are trying to paint an upbeat picture or not get so worked up and the unhappy lot is they keep things in perspective and don't let unknown factors panic them, strangely I have been here before with Boro and it could go many ways but what I do know is that letting all my fears and gripes rule my thinking won't do any good and you just end up being boring, if we do Shiite or go down then it's still no good to be a worked up state as you, because at the end of the day this is what life is like - totally unpredictable and sometimes a bit toss so you might as well keep some sense of perspective or you end up like some out of control yo- yo always up or down depending on what other people do, not taking control of yourself- and for people who want to support Middlesbrough, if you want to keep a smile on your face you have to learn to take things with a pinch of salt. But to address your points,it's a small town team who achieved the sum total of jack shiite pre 1994, and while our chairman may not be perfect he has helped us punch above our weight and get to undreamed of heights, now I'm sure you would like some rich unknown benefactor to come in, and pour all those millions into the club and sure of course they would have best interests at heart but until someone is at the door knocking I'm not going to be demanding for Gibson to move aside. Our recruitment team didn't do to bad for the two seasons AK first came and built us a team to get into the Premiership.Derby, Leeds, Wednesday, Villa all bigger teams than us have had a go over recent years with no luck so there is no precise formula for it, it's a bit of luck sometimes.

Back to the comical Ali jibe, the biggest problem was that he had the biggest military machine the world as ever seen gunning for him so yes he took on Ostrich qualities, a bit different from a teams fans who haven't lost a sense of perspective and are willing to wait 3 weeks longer before going into meltdown.

Agree about besic, he wont come now and could end up at a rival like leeds. Gibsons moral crusade vs agents only has one winner and its not MFC.

Totally agreed. Fmttm does seem to attract the doom-and-gloom, glass-half-empty brigade

Or as someone else said this week, "Many of our supporters are so dour and negative, it is borderline hilarious" [:D]

We sold a striker, a midfielder and a defender and brought in...a striker, midfielder and defender. We have a new crop of youngsters who look very promising (so far)

Why are people panicking? Maybe its related to the over-hyping of transfer deadline day by Sky. I watched it for about 15 mins and couldn't take any more than that.

It's not that, don't think some people have it in them to be positive.

No point getting players for the sake of it and getting ripped off at the same time, we know how that worked for us last season dont we.

Made some good signings in my opinion 4 points from the first two games and the loan window is still open.

We might be in a decent position come January's window and have money to spend.

"I agree about Besic, if he does go out on loan it probably won't be us, his agent is probably going to make sure of that."

If he wants to come as he allegedly does, then it's up to him to remind his agent that she works for him and to get it sorted, not mess him about so she can squeeze a few more quid out of a more gullible chairman.

"I know we complained about Keith Lamb back in the day but name me one Boro fan who, in good faith, would not swap Bausor for Lamb in a heartbeat."

Exactly this. You complained about Lamb when it was clear he was doing a good job, and would have gladly hounded him out, now you see he was actually pretty good at bringing players in.

Almost as if some fans are never happy.
