I remember them when they didn’t have a pot to píss in [:O] and they’ll probably still average lower crowds than us

They were poor and now they’re rich - we were moderately well off once and now we’re poor - swings and roundabouts [sad]

So some short term Billionaire has a new train set. Lets wait until the tough gets going. Back to the States with his money. Did Fayed not do similar.

Relatively small clubs such as Bournemouth, Fulham, Burnley etc. have moved with the times...

They've had very good runs, it's true, but these things happen in football - it doesn't mean we haven't "moved with the times".

Burnley have been exceptional but didn’t pay silly money for players. They built a team to get themselves out of the Championship that was nowhere near as expensive as ours three years ago.

I think we are now sensibly attempting to do the same.

As for Bournemouth and Fulham they have multi millionaires prepared to throw money around. As did Villa last season who were on the brink of going bust before being rescued by an Egyptian.

Well Middlesbrough Football Club is only Steve Gibson’s play thing. The only difference between him and most other owners is that he was an actual fan before he took over. Eindhoven was the pinnacle and we’ve been on the slide ever since. He’s taken us as far as he can, he’ll never have the money to compete with the mega rich guys running the prem clubs now. We are what we are, if anyone isn’t happy with that they should maybe consider following another team. I’m quite happy to watch the Boro in whatever league we’re in, whether that be with 30000 of us there or 3000

We spent £19m and to Fulham's £100m and that's the transfer fee - what their wage bill like?

Fulham, Wolves and Everton have seriously rolled the dice, will all be an interesting watch. I think I'm glory-supporting Wolves this season for Adama!

Sums up modern football, Fulham and Wolves spend ridiculous amounts and will think they have had fantastic seasons if they are not fighting relegation. Personally I hope that Cardiff and Huddersfield finish above them both.

As to Wolves I just keep hearing the refrain from their celebrity fan Robert Plant's When the Levee Breaks:

"Going down, going down now."

I’ve heard quite a few Fulham and Wolves fans talk about top 10 being their aim this season, 6 or 7 maybe. My god didn’t take them long to get greedy!
Really hope Cardiff stay up and one/both the others struggle.

Fulham can always sell craven cottage and move to Wembley if the owner buys it. Fulhams ground is the most valuable land in sport I believe.

Let them go for it.

With the investment made, both Fulham and Wolves had made a statement of intent to stay in the top flight.
Wish we had.

Yep that was the time to spend - I think Gibson said at the time “we’ll give it a real go” - we did pretty much the opposite
