struggle with laverne she's so false, thankfully iam not a early riser these days. thankfully with radioplayer you can listen to mark riley 10-1 . fantasy radio is alive and well as long as you don't mind the news being 12 hours out of date.

gutted. radmac is my favourite show at my favourite time.

keavney irritates the life out of me - hes nowhere near as funny as he thinks and he thinks he is a world authority on guitars/guitarists. he obviously believes himself to be a worthy standup comic but then a stadium filling rock guitarist. i would prefer if he played records more.

not as bad as george lamb, mind. jeeesus.

Oh for f*ck's sake, Keaveney in the afternoon [xx(][V] I wish he'd bugger off to Radio X or whatever it's called! Rad/Mac relegated to Sat/Sun slots? How to ruin a radio station in one swoop[rle]

On the plus side I'll no longer have to suffer Lauren Laverne's XXXXXX 'Memory Tapes' feature (or 'Our Tune' as it used to be known back in the day!) anymore[^]

Keaveney [?]
Behave - love him, great music and I do find him funny
All about opinions eh [;)]

Lauren - poor for me. Plays too much dance music

Mary Ann Hobbs taking over from Lauren - like her music more

Rad/Mac - love em to death. Seems like they are being put out to grass but will make Sat/Sun mornings a joy

A missed opportunity to shift pub bore Steve Lamacq onto somewhere when Iím not likely to tune in to 6music.

I didn't even know there was a Radio 6! is it a bit rubbish like Channel 5 on TV?

Finny, re: Keaveny - I'd best just leave it at 'he's an acquired taste' [;)]

The one change puzzling me most is whispering Mary Anne Hobbs! She's great, love her shows but her delivery is so understated/low key I can't see how it's going to work on an afternoon slot? That slot needs a bit of energy/life that Rad/Mac currently provide. Hobb's delivery is suited to her current Sunday morning/ late night shows she does. Strange decision[sad]

Oh god no .....

Shaun Keaveny is truly, truly awful. I have to switch off if ever I have the misfortune of hearing his "funny" stuff. [cr]

I'm not sure I'll be able to put up with much of Mary Anne Hobbs's extreme earnestness either.

All about opinions for sure, but I really like Keaveny - think that slot suits him superbly and will miss him.

I do like Lauren Laverne though so hopefully she will put her own stamp on it.

Mary Anne Hobbs is a strange one. Plays decent music but her delivery style sends me to sleep. Agree with comment that she was best suited to weekends.

Agree also with the comment on Lamacq. Was an ideal opportunity to get 'Lammo' off. He does my head in! Tom Ravenscroft on that section would be ideal.

All about opinions of course!...

I started off delighted that Keaveney was moving out of the breakfast slot, only to find he was being given my favourite show's position :(

I listen to RadMac religiously at work, either live or via iPlayer, and am gutted they are not going to be around next year.

I don't mind the idea of Lauren Laverne doing the breakfast show, I quite like her (but I agree that she plays too much dance/chillout music atm, as does MAH). I would expect her to be more mainstream in the breakfast slot, but I would also think MAH would continue playing the more obscure stuff between 10 and 1.

The one plus point is that weekend listening will be very much improved. At the moment there is only Chris Hawkins' (who I love) early show and Liz Kershaw (Saturday 1pm) that I listen to.

What ever happened to Danny Wallace being the saviour of radio btw??

Am not sure about Lauren Laverne being false - having spoken to her on and off since she was about 17 she is exactly the same on and off the microphone - really bubbly, engaging, friendly, interesting person.

Agree with most of that esp the radmac swap which is very strange, they are a good double act. LL I can do without tbh, a bit sickly and can be fawning. Thought Tom Ravenscroft wouldíve done well in her slot, if you pardon the expression.

Itís chcken and egg for me
Keaveney plays some great music so have been happy to let him grow on me
LL - not so
Mary Ann Hobbs - good music
Rad/Mac - best combination of music and chat
Cerys - class above the lot

"Rad n Mac get the early slot on Sat/Sun mornings"

Stupid move for me as I listen as much as I can daily when working. Always something funny, interesting or a combination of both between music.

I don't mind Keaveney in small doses but 1-4...nah.

Still, always the download option for shows so not an absolute tragedy.

Canít stand Mary Anne Hobbs. Great music, but the faux breathless wonderment is too much.

And a 54 year old woman from rural Lancashire using phrases like Ďthis track is lifted fromí or Ďyouíre locked onto Six Musicí. Not for me.

Keaveny is excellent. Good music, comedy and excellent guests esp Brian Cox and Murray Lachlan Young. Perfect show for me for driving to work. Shame it's moving

Lauren is OK. Rad/Mac only ok, The Chain has run its course and become tedious and boring. They need a change

Lamacq is a shriveled Goblin/Demon making a career out of trying to sound like John Peel whilst having no discernible sense of humor. Why he hasn't been moved to Radio 2 yet I have no idea

"The Chain has run its course and become tedious and boring"

It's a series of linked records, each having a different link. How on earth can it be boring, surely better to hear something out the left-field than the rather limited 6 Music playlist.

It's just linked music as TLJ said, like a random choice - sometimes a predictable link but at others it veers off and produces an interesting and off piste offering.

What I mean is as a feature, I find it boring. Every time I switch them on they are banging on about "The Chain", and have been for years and years.

They even advertise it as "the longest running...thematically linked sequence of musical items on the radio" and I did not have to look that up, it is seared into my brain as I hear it about 5 times every time I switch them on. I'm glad it will be over soon [^]
