Nathan Gorman - heavyweight prospect

Just watched his fight on Saturday where he dispatched his opponent inside three rounds, record is now 13-0. He has fast hands for a heavyweight and looks like he can both box and brawl. Really likes to let his hands go. He's the great nephew of legendary bare-knuckle fighter Bartley Gorman. He's also a cousin of the Fury's. Probably needs some more conditioning but he should be involved in some good fights.

I don’t think he’ll go any further than British level!!

He’s only young isn’t he? 21?

Was impressive at the weekend and seems to have all the tools to step up. Certainly worth talking about.

I could see him going further than British level, but I would be very surprised to see him win a world title. I think the difference between winning world titles comes down to effort as opposed to talent most of the time, and looking at him I don’t think he gives it 100% every day in the gym. Certainly his diet could improve.

Yeah Gorman has potential. Good variety in his attack, great hand speed, good power. I'd fancy him to beat Dubois.

"I don’t think he gives it 100% every day in the gym. Certainly his diet could improve."

In all fairness, he has started to get in better shape than he had been.

He certainly has some attributes rarely seen in heavyweight boxing these days. Great handspeed, brilliant punch selection and variety too and body punching.

I just wonder if he's a bit undersized for the current heavyweight scene. Todays top heavyweights are mostly like 6'6+. Gorman looks like he would be a small heavy or big cruiserweight if he was in better condition.

I like him though. Great to watch and it'll be interesting to see how he progresses. If he starts moving up the rankings, i could see plenty of fighters not fancying it. Looks like he might be a very high risk, low reward kind of fighter.

I'm no expert, but there looked to be a big difference in class between him and Joe Joyce when he fought the other week. JJ Looks really slow and cumbersome.
I then listened to Ritchie Woodall say how good he looked. What do I know.

Joyce is actually painfully slow and still looks raw attimes.

Luckily for him, the heavyweight division isn't stacked with brilliant boxers that will show it. He still has some great attributes too that can take him quite far into todays heavyweight scene.

Someone like a fit Tyson Fury, or even Hughie Fury would make Joyce looks awful and basic i think, due to styles. I think he will do well against fighters that move in straight lines and very orthodox.

Could be the next Gary Cornish.

He is one of Hatton's lads and trains at the Hatton gym, by the looks of social media he puts in the work on a daily basis. How many heavyweight boxers do you see doing burpees!?

Not seen the fight but an impressive record for his first dozen fights.

Joyce looks a bit of a specimen although he does look robotic at times. It's as if he's been programmed to take his opponent out and he just keeps marching forward delivering clubbing shots to the head. It will be interesting to see how he progresses in the pro ranks. He's fighting at York Hall on Friday night, it's live on terrestrial TV, think it's the Dave channel.
