does look to be like quite significant

add the crowd factor on the night gamesand shows the importance of finishing 3rd or fourth.

Yes it's seen as an advantage. But I'm not sure the crowd had much influence last night.
They only seemed to wake up with 10 minutes to go.

I wasnít referring to your comment Barney, I was more thinking about the ridiculous threads Iíve looked at today slating everybody and everything because we failed to score at Villa Park last night.

Big games away from home are very difficult particularly the second leg when the home team is a big club like Villa and knows what it has to do.

Villa certainly knew what to do last night, very well organised and difficult to break down.
I thought it was strange how many posters were stating that Villa would have to come at us, therefore leaving gaps at the back.

It's not as straightforward as that as you know.

No itís not straightforward at all and I thought we had been involved in enough big games over the last 20 odd years for most of our fans to realise that these business end games are never easy particularly against the bigger clubs.

Holgate I am still pi$$ed off not because we got beat, but because we didn't have a go. We had nothing to lose but it seemed that TP just wanted to be in the game till the end and then throw the big lad on and hope for the best. Professional management should be more than hope for the best.

I think itís hard to Ďhave a goí. We had the same at Wembley v Norwich where there were similar criticisms that despite having nothing to lose Karanka didnít throw caution to the wind.

I know people say you may as well be beaten 10 nil than 1 nil but there are plenty of arguments against that approach and bear in mind if Adamaís shot hadnít been illegally stopped or Downings free kick had gone in, then the world might have been different just now.

I think it's important to remember that the teams in the playoffs with "home advantage" in the second leg are by definition better teams than their opponents based on finishing league position. For example, Fulham finished a long way ahead of Derby and, over the course of the whole season as well as on recent form, are a vastly superior team. Therefore did they make the final as a result of second leg home advantage, or simply because they're better full stop?

Fulham could yet have home advantage in the final by dint of being owners of the stadium.
