Not "we", but "Boro"

Ayala is not of the quality we need to get us up. Too unreliable and makes errors at crucial times. Not strengthening our defence this season has cost us so it's two new CB for me next season. Fry could be ready in next 2/3 seasons, needs some experience on loan.

Couldnít disagree more, Ayala has been one of our best players this season and been an absolute giant since Pulis came in. As we all know he was quality under Karanka at this level too and a key component in the play off and promotion season, I hope we sign a good aged replacement for Gibson.

'Not strengthening our defence this season has cost us so it's two new CB for me next season. '

Another statement which doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Only 3 teams in the Championship have conceded less goals.

Disagree. One of the best defenders in The Championship IMO as he was the last time we were in the division.

If you said to me this time last year he was leaving I would have been devastated. However, this year Iím not even bothered. I think heís had a very average season to say the least. Ayala is far superior providing he stays fit.

Ayala has been outperforming Gibson in the last few months. The worry with him is that he is injury prone, but he's still only 27. Should have plenty more good seasons left in him yet.

Can't say I'm surprised, I've always thought the contract extensions in 2016 and 2017 were to keep his value as high as possible rather than an indication of him staying.

On that end, can't fault him. Kept his own value as high as possible to benefit the club when he goes and sacrificed a potential England push to try and bring us back to the Premier League.

I've been critical of him, mainly under Monk, but he has potential and has been an important part of our defence over the last few seasons. He's never been our best defender (IMO it's been Ayala, Chambers & Ayala over the last three seasons) but he has been a very good partner to Ayala and on the whole, despite an underwhelming season by his own stands, has been generally solid.

All the best if he does go.

Why would the well be dry?

Parachute payment should cover most of the wage bill plus potential £30-40m player sales.

If what youve been saying about our situation next season is true then that just seems like bad planning since its our final season with the advantage of parachute payments. Also I couldnt see Pulis being attracted to stay 18 months if a season of that is spent scraping around for bargains.

Ayala and Gibson complement each other very well so if he does go I would imagine Ayala's form would suffer too.

And as for strengthening our defence?
Had Ayala Shotton, clayton and Friend been playing the full season we wouldn't have the fourth best defence, we would have the best defence

Consistently under performed this season.

Shame to lose him but in hindsight we should have cashed in at the end of last season.

I'm afraid you're wrong on the parachute payments. the rules changed for clubs relegated after just one season as Boro were. Those clubs only receive 2 years of payments so next season is our last on these.

He'll leave with the full support of most Boro fans. He served the club well and sacrificed a potential World Cup place albeit, highly unlikely. He got well paid though so not exactly a difficult decision. Good luck to him. He'll be back to finish his career here. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes over from Steve Gibson alongside Gibbos daughter.

Spot where our teams shortcomigs were this season, and last, and the two years before that.

Nothing to do with Assombalonga and co hitting every seat in row Z then?

If Pulis gad been offered a deal to be in the playoff final if the team could score twice in two games he'd have taken it in a NY minute.

Itís not an irrelevant question at all. Itís making a very clear point that his choice of words is probably entirely innocuous and has no bearing on whether he will stay or go. Even if he had written Ďweí, Iíd still expect him to go.

My own view is that he will go. But not because of the way he worded a Tweet. Thatís just plain daft.

The one position i am confident of Pulis recruiting wisely is centre back. So i am not unduly worried about Gibson going providing we get a decent price. We need to get an experienced centre back preferably a goal scoring one like Ayala and let him compete with fry who I really rate.

Gibson has been the weak link out of the two CBs this season. Ayala has been outstanding. We need to keep him but I think Rafa might come calling he fancied him earlier. Gibson on this seasons form wont take any replacing probably Fry will step in. If any Premier team want Gibson they must be looking at previous form and be hoping he can get back to it certainly not on last season.

I think now would be the right time to cash in on him. They money could be used to strengthen the squad in other areas where it needs it most.

Best of luck to him if it happens.

The Gibson situation reminds me of when we sold Huth. Rumours at the time were that we had £6m offers for both him and Wheater. Huth was by far our best player and the best CB in the championship. Yet we sold him and kept hold of Wheater because he was a local lad. We should have cashed in on Wheater then, just like we should have cashed in on Gibson last summer.

Letís be honest, heís been mediocre this year. Good luck to him but he will get found in a team that actually attackís and commits more than one player past the half way line. Iíd take £20m for him providing it was all reinvested in the team. Huth on a free, Bartley from Swansea and Burke with the money with some left over.

I maybe missing something here but I didn't take his message as a "goodbye". It was an acknowledgement to the support over the season and nothing else.
In contrast, if he was to go then please let me know what clubs are in for Ben Gibson because albeit a decent player at his current level, Premier League...well perhaps a newly promoted club or similar which I don't think will appeal to Ben or pay the figures some on hear mention.
