Why is traores shot not being counted as on target?

Newspapers all reporting no shots on target yet in the same breath saying Johnstone should have been sent off?

It's one of those grey areas described as "blocked shots"...

"Denying a goalscoring opportunity: Red card rule relaxed by IFAB."

Doesn't apply to this situation as it was deliberate handball

'The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award of a penalty under those circumstances'

As we wouldn't have got a penalty then the 'triple punishment' doesn't apply.

The decision can only have been a red card, there wasn't a case for anything else.
Might have made no difference but that's not the point.

And as for that not counting as a shot on target. Lazy (thick) journalism

Isn't hitting the cross bar a shot on target?

'Does it matter'

I presume that is a question.

To me it matters, if only as a talking point. It was on target.
