Laurel.

This has done the rounds at work. Half believe it's Laurel, the rest Yanny.

I actually heard Yanny the first 4 or 5 times, kind of like an american whiny accent, then heard Laurel, and now can't get back to Yanny, it's now Laurel every time.

very odd.

if you can hear high frequency sounds you hear Yanny..

if you can only hear low frequency sounds you hear Laural..

If you can hear both.. your head may just explode.. as could hear both at different times..

link to tweet in BBC article that explains it: Dylan Bennett..

Link: Its both...

I think it's to do with pitch. If you are playing the sound on a phone speaker the reproduction of low frequencies is poor and you tend to hear "Yanny"?

I've heard where someone messes with the pitch and at lower settings I can hear "Laurel" otherwise I get "Yanny" every time.

I hear very little in terms of high frequency. My ears are goosed with Tinnitus.

That's funny.

First of all I could only hear 'Yahmee'

Then I went back to it and I could only hear 'Laurel'

I hear Laurel every time. I even watched a video where someone messed with the frequency or something and I still heard Laurel.

Am I part cow?

Just tried it on a good pair of Sony headphones and I can hear two voices, a high pitched voice saying "Yanny" and a lower pitched one saying "Laurel" at the same time.

If you play with a graphic equaliser and reduce or increase some frequencies you can hear two voices.

Depends on your hearing - if like mine it is getting poorer with age, you'll hear lower frequencies and have poor high frequency reception.

I've heard both...twice during the day I heard Yanny. However it was on in the background on sky news and I heard Laurel before I realised what they were talking about. Next time though it was back to Yanny. All to do with bass and treble apparently
