I agree with the OP[^]

Back in the late 90s and early 00s we had genuine designs on coming top 6-8 and winning cups. Now? Forget it. Get promoted and you're just one of 12 teams battling relegaton until late April, celebrating 0-0 draws against the big Manchester, Merseyside and London clubs. The gap continues to widen too.

That said, I'd like us to win promotion obviously, but when we don't like we didn't last night, I'm over it pretty quickly.

I'm quite looking forward to midweek highlights show and live televised Tuesday night games in the Championship too.[:D]

Battling PL relegation is ok for a season or two, but all my favourite seasons have been those chasing promotion.

However, I have to want promotion, or chasing it becomes rather meaningless.

Well OPs username is certainly appropriate in this case

Even if you scrape the PL top half, you’re seeing your team win one match in 3

FH, yes, and such is the gap, finishing top 10 doesn't actually establish you like it used to. It doesn't attract better players etc or give you the feeling that you can progress next season.

What's the more likely scenario for 7th placed Burnley next season. Relegation, or 6th?

I'd say relegation, hands down.

Can't afford to be in the Championship.

Unsustainable losses.

Sums it up. The football in the championship is much more interesting, but....

Plenty of clubs manage it
