Rob Huth anyone ?

Sounds like he's been allowed to leave on free .

He's had his injury problems so there's that to bare in mind

In a heartbeat. How many soft goals from set pieces have we conceded this season?

We need 3 mids and 2 fullbacks as a minimum whatever league we are in. Would like to see Huth come in too.

Hasn’t played a competitive game for over a year, nearly 35 years old. Think if he was fit the answer would be easy. With his injury record don’t think I would have him.

Noooooo! There is a reason that he is being released, and we don't want to hold back the progress of Fry if there is a Centre back place going.

Yeah I suppose that's what we need to think about now , especially if we're in the championship it's a great league to bring fry in .

Pulis has offered him a 1 year deal. Stoke and few others are looking at him.

Why would we want to be stuck with over paid and over the hill defender with a bad injury record?

Centre back isn’t a priority if we keep what we have got.

We need full backs and creative centre midfielders, a pacy left winger and a quality set piece taker.

We need to stop this approach of looking starry-eyed at former hoping they will recreate their form when they left. We need to sign hungry players with a point to prove.

If fit he would be the best defender in the division by a distance. Problem is that's a massive 'if'.

Nobody is going to offer him a normal contract, he'll get PAYP at best.

If PAYP then I think he is definitely worth a punt. His experience could be very valuable around the squad.

Yes, get him and make him and Woodgate 1st choice CB pairing

Would be the most experienced and successful CB's in the Championship [:D]

Barnsy is right, definitely worth a punt.
His ability and influence will be very good.
If Gibson does leave then Huth would make a lot of sense and leave a lot of money to strengthen obvious problems further forward.

I think he'd be a very smart signing, even if he was brought in simply to provide cover. Pulis is obviously a big fan and I'd imagine Huth has big respect for him. The age thing isn't really a big issue, as John Terry has proven this season. As a defender in the Championship, pace is not essential.

He hasn't played this season. Has he been injured/out of favour (or both)?

Whereas if he’s on the treatment table as much as he has been this season then it won’t be. For a punt he’d better be both free and on cheap wages.

That said I don’t believe Pulis is chasing him.

He has been fit for weeks now.
He wasn't seen as part of their future, not going to get or sign a new contract, so they didn't play him.
None of that makes him a bad signing for us.

In the Leicester Mercury 2 weeks ago.

“The 33-year-old has been unable to play all season because of ankle and foot problems that haven’t cleared up, but Puel refused to say whether Huth is being allowed to leave the club on a free transfer.”

That doesn’t suggest to me he “has been fit for weeks”

If Gibbo goes, I wonder if George might be moved back to CB? We need more threat on the left. Fry will play more than he did this season and we have Ayala as the seasoned pro with regular fitness problems so no for me.
