I think the fines are based on earnings rather than a set amount. He will have been given a lower sentence for pleading guilty.

FMTTM jealousy squad. Why do people on here despise successful people ?

He was wrong, thank goodness no one was hurt, he pleaded guilty and paid his dues.

"Why do people on here despise successful people ?"

It's a left wing thing. They don't like people being successful as it gives others something to aspire to. They would rather keep people down so that they remain good little Labour voting sheep.

Not sure what people expected to happen.

Banned from driving for 20 months and fined half his weekly earnings, as well as having his reputation in tatters and out of work for a while.

It'd be a different story if anyone had been injured in the incident, obviously, but the only damage was to the vehicles.

Drink driving is a stupid, selfish and irresponsible thing to do, but the way people are going on you'd think he'd been caught attacking people on the streets.

define successful.

i dont define it as being a drunken drug addict going through a divorce with your name being dragged through the gutter press and your reputation in tatters with a criminal record.

rich? yes. successful, maybe not.

yeh hes really successful isn't he.

Nearly successfully killed someone, through his own selfishness.

Nowt to do with despising successful people. I have a disdain for the majority of celebrity types - thick as sh!t most of them and up their own ar$oles as they demonstrate publicly on many occasions.

What does he do exactly - apart from reading out loud ?

I suggest you look at real professions if you are looking for successful people.

Get off the bloke's back.
He did wrong, he is sorry and has paid a penalty.
Hope he recovers.

If you think that all he does is read lines then you are very dim.

As said above. He has admited his guilt, paid his dues accordingly, been banned from the road and publicly humiliated himself and his partner.

He has been dealt with by the courts as any other citizen would rightly be dealt with......... yet some people think he should be punished more and more. Anyone else can generally be left alone to get on with their life in peace. Alcohol addiction IS an illness and he should be left alone to get on with his treatment so that hopefully one day he can return to work and get on with his life and to help entertain some of the nation again.

Tolerance, being equitable and unbiased are traits that are generally found in decent human beings. Such traits should be displayed far more often by all of us.

I dont care if someone is a successful television presenter or a bloke who pushes brushes along the street edge, if the cnt gets behind the wheel of a car whulst under the influ ce of drink or drugs he / she should have their licence taken off them for life.
All well and good saying sorry and 'paying his dues'. Would it still be ok if had killed someone?

For anyone else who clicked this thread and has seen 15 posts which all neglect to mention who or what this is in relation to: It's a thread about Ant McPartlin and his drink driving offence.

He would be inside probably serving a life sentence for causing death by dangerous driving. The penalty would be very different and he would fully deserve it.

Totally agree, the bloke made a massive, mistake & will pay for it for a long time, but lets sit back & think to ourselves, are we all whiter than white that we can call someone as if being in trouble is alien to each & everyone of us.

And yes I do enjoy his shows, his patter makes me laugh & at the end of the day if something makes you laugh then it can't be bad for you, can it?

Whilst I agree drink driving is pretty abhorrent, speeding kills more people every year than drink drivers. How many of the people on this thread suggesting stiffer punishments have never gone over the speed limit whilst in their car?

A little perspective folks.

Couldn't agree more Laughing, how many times are threads posted on here by people who have been done for speeding but automatically blame the copper/speed camera that catches them.

He has done wrong and admitted his guilt, time to move on.

archiestephens_elbow, why are you so bitter towards them?
You've started threads regarding how poor you think they are, which is fine you're entitled to n opinion, you then had a go at the girl who appears on Saturday night take away, as her & Ant stealing a living, nothing to do with the offence mind, but there you go, now you're having a dig at Dec for not been there, don't you think he's kept out of the media spotlight, as it's not about him it's all about Ant, he will have been there for him all the time, though that wouldn't fit in with your jealous & bitter opinions of them both.

Rooney was 3 times the legal limit I believe which was more than Ant I guess that plays a part maybe, who knows. Different courts pass different sentences for different crimes.

Ant has a serious illness, has showed remorse and wont be back at work as quick as Rooney was either. He is being punished and will be punished more than Rooney was on the terraces I am sure. He needs to do rehab, to get well. That should always be the first priority after his sentence in this particular instance. No two instances are the same, no two people are the same
