The inventor now lives in the USA. The formula isn't secret and we make it at Porton Down 7 miles from Salisbury. Why would Putin risk world condemnation just before an election and the world cup by using easily identified Russian made agent against someone who has lived openly in UK for years? Has to be more to it.......

I agree, it doesn’t add up. There’s definitely more too it.

yeah why blame a country with dubious intentions around the world when we can blame our own lot for concocting an incident and blame them but not do anything about...

It all seemed a bit amateurish to me, surely Russia could have done a better job than this.

Do you really think Putin gives a toss about world condemnation?

I doubt he's too worried about the election either. Aside from the fact he'll make sure it's rigged in his favour, many Russians, in particular his supporters, have little sympathy for a 'traitor' so even if he did order it, probably won't affect his popularity in Russia too much.

Wouldn't be surprised if the point was that he wants people to know it was them, just not be able to conclusively prove it.

The litvinenko job was massively amateur. Leaving a trail of polonium in the hotel, strip club and various restaurants.

Why would it have a negative impact on his election? The Russians will be loving the fact they took out someone convicted of spying against them. Then he can rally people against the West (or at least the UK) placing more sanctions on Russia.

I don't know why people are so quick to think there is some conspiracy going on. It's the type of thing Putin does. The same way he annexes Crimea without caring what the world thinks.

I'm glad you mentioned Crimea. Poster above mentioned the World Cup etc, Russia invaded Crimea three days before the end of the Sochi Winter Games. At least Hitler waited two years before invading other places.

Important notice:

I'm just kidding Russia, please don't kill me.
