Mo Besic...

Credit to pulis for bringing him in[^]

I think most (myself included) thought he was a defensive 'grafter'. He is actually very forward thinking and sticks out like a sore thumb. A real class act!!

The whole shape and ballance of the side changed when he went off.

He has rapidly become a key player. Hopefully we can keep him fit and firing[^]

Then get promoted and sign him[;)]

So pleased with him.
I think he has been a very important signing.
We all know that the Leadbitter/Clayton partnership was 'solid' but that it would never be positive enough to support the forward line and get enough goals. (Okay, I agree it worked in the promo champ team but we never looked like creating enough chances in the PL).
Buying Howson looked like a key move in the summer in restructuring the midfield. This wasn't enough....even though Howson has now settled in.
Bringing in Besic and letting Forshaw go has been a masterstroke. We now seem to be playing an effective 4-3-3(?) and the big loss of Rmairez in the number 10 role doesn't seem as sad anymore.
BTW I still think Foreshaw is a decent player. Indeed, the Leeds fans seem to have taken to him straight away. But our midfield dept. just wasn't 'clicking' and he was the unfortunate fall guy.
Hope we can buy Besic but I think Eberton only let him come to us on loan for 'game time'as he had been out with a serious injury.
His quality/pedigree reminds me of Chambers last year....so good that they hit the ground running.

I thought he was good today, but not outstanding? I actually thought, god help me for saying this, Howson was better today.

Besic and Clayton were good, but I thought Howson was better (and after Millwall away, i'd have been all for driving him back to Norwich myself). Perhaps it was Besic's horror dribble across our own goal that tainted my perception, because i'll note the Gazette are crowing about his performance as well. He's been excellent since we got him, no doubt. I hope a deal is there to be done in the summer, i think he's surplus at Everton?

I don't think he has much of a future at Everton. That said Everton fans quite like him and I'm sure they will have a new gaffer in the summer.

I read he is on 30k a week and contracted until 2021 so a deal wouldn't be easy. I guess the best thing would be for us to go up and it gives us more of a chance[^]

i wouldnt call him an allrounder seeing as he has 1 career goal, hes very good at getting past his central midfield marker and generating space that way, but in no way is he an allrounder, to be that his goalscorign record woulo dhave t better better than 1 every 10 years

BigmetsBoro86 - assombalonga is reportedly on more that 30g's a game for us so not sure it would be a huge problem for us if we can move him on which id expect in the summer. would all depend on promotion, no doubt he sees his future above the championship but a he wouldnt get that back in the bundes liga i wouldnt have thought

I reckon we might have kept Chambers if we had stayed up? Besic might just be a situation where player/club 'fits'. Would be great if we could nick him for a small fee....we are due some luck in the transfer business I think.

Witcher, as far as passing, tracking back, tackling, tidying up, moving forward, getting into good positions, I think he's an all rounder.

He played a one-two on the touchline with Downing about 30 mins into first half that had me purring from the other side of the ground. Coming onto it from an obtuse angle I thought he was going to turn away and head towards his own goal with it but he stabbed the ball with a mountain of left hand side on it that looked like it was going out but curved and stayed in play and left Downing in open space and three Barnsley defenders facing the wrong way.

I thought "Aye, aye."

Been brilliant for us but I have one complaint, he holds on to the ball for to long at times when he could play a simple pass or even a sliding ball into downing, Bamford or Traore.

*ducks for cover*

Great OP

The lad is a prem player. Glad we have him.

His run with the ball across our own 6 yard box today was absolute class. Composure personified.

Need to keep him long term!

In 2016. Besic extended his contract with Everton until the summer of 2021, so he still has a long time left to run on his current deal.

Our best central midfielder since De Roon.

Also, to a person above, there's no shame in saying Howson had a good game. I thought people had came to their senses by now and realised that after a quiet start, he was worthy of a place in the starting lineup.

Heís the missing link between defence and attack. I said at the time of the signing that for a defensive mid that he was very forward thinking and that he read and played the game quicker than any of our other central mids. He must be here next season.

He did 2 great sliding blocks high up the pitch on Saturday, one on each side. Busted a gut to get over. He's tenacious and has enough ability doing that side of things to justify a place in the team but to have the great feet and surges forward to help the team too we have some player.

I wasn't that fussed about the signing at first as didnt think we massively need another CM but if you are that good then it's more than justified. Great scouting whoever identified him. Was more excited about harrison at first but he hasnt featured really

He brings something to the midfield that we've been lacking all season.......energy. He's also a good footballer. Went on a little run in the 2nd half when he beat two players with ease but couldn't get any real power on his shot. I also like how he also makes himself available for the ball and is good at finding space.
