Car Tyres.....

...are getting ridiculously expensive these days and don't seem to last long either!

I usually get my tyres from Blackcircles.com but they're not much cheaper either! Anyone have any recommendations for decent tyres? E class Merc so it's usually continental conti sport contact but I struggle to get 10k miles out of them! Was wondering if mid range would last just as long?. Also, has anyone bought tyres online then taken them to a garage to be fitted. I wondered whether garages would do this or nor?

When I needed a pair of Pirelli P-zeros I found Kwik Fit Mobile were cheaper than their branches and they will come to your work place and do the change in the car park. Worth a look.

I'd have a look on the Merc forums for harder wearing alternatives.

had pirellis on my volvo... they were down to the canvass within 11 months of driving (10000 miles)

changed them for a pair of unbranded for 65 quid each and the ride, the noise and and the wear is much much better

I will not be touching premium brands again

My Continental Tyres lasted 30k Front and 45k Rear. Pirelli were about the same on previous car, both front wheel drive

Replaced them with Fulcrum which should last a bit longer and are cheaper. I have had them before.

I found local independents were a bit cheaper than national outlets. Going online tends to get a better deal, especially with national outlets.

Asda online and book a fitting day with Halfords.

Very easy to do and cheap as chips. They send the tyres direct so you just turn up and have them fitted.

Honestly not that heavy... I have never needed tyres as quickly with any other car before and that includes driving a company car 20000 in a year.

I have already done 5000 on the next set and they look good as new so I canít even say the car is at fault

Try your local tyre fitter. The 'High Street' retailers and internet searches do not always root out the best value.
Last time I searched, I tried Northallerton Tyre and Battery and they were loads cheaper than anywhere else. Also told me about a Michelin £50 fuelcard cashback deal that was not mentioned online.

Donít use Asda tyres. They rip off the garages big time

Car Tyres.....

My current car has been a nail and screw magnet in the three years that I've had it. Never skewer the rubber in a location that can be repaired, either. The car uses low profile tyres with the extra load rating, so they cost a lot more than tyres in my previous cars. At one point only Continental supplied the correct rated tyres. Painful.

I ordered online to a local independent a couple of years ago and they just told me to come direct in future, as they could match the price. Been doing that since and their mid-range tyres have been fine.
