The 2017 Ballon d'Or winner is...

Do many care about these gimmicky awards now they're simply a contest between Messi and Ronaldo based on who scores the most goals/wins the CL?

Messi fan myself but this award has been going for at least 50 years and is worth something.
Think i have seen the two most talented players in decades with these two.

The 2017 Ballon d'Or winner is...

Personally I think it has been devalued a little by the focus on La-liga these last 10 years.

Look at the season Ribery didn't win it. He was the standout player in the Bayern team that won everything. What more could he do?

Although perhaps that was due to the influence of FIFA when it amalgamated with the World Player of the Year award.

Actually, out of curiosity, which do you think has more value, The Ballon D'or, or FIFA World Player of the Year Award / The Best ?

The 2017 Ballon d'Or winner is...

As a supporter based in the UK personally I couldn't really care for either award. Brilliantly talented both regular winners are they get enough recognition and reward without receiving monstrously oversized metal to inflate their egos more.

The 2017 Ballon d'Or winner is...

Just recognition of the worlds best talent.

Don't see the problem with it.

As much as people don't like him, you cannot fault Ronaldo's work ethic to improve and sheer drive and desire to be the best.

Remember that raw talent that Fergie nurtured so well at United.

I 100% believe if he'd been anywhere else, he'd be half the player he is now.
