Book Corner- Saltburn Success Story

One of the country's smallest bookshops has been going from strength to strength in Saltburn over the last three years.

Jenna Warren opened the Book Corner in May 2014, with the shop quickly becoming a favourite landmark with the local community and visitors alike.

And its growing popularity even enabled the shop to move into larger premises in the town's increasingly vibrant Milton Street earlier this year.

Lots more about this and great photos from Stuart Boulton in the linked article.

What happened to the book shop that used to be on one of the jewel streets? Used to love walking to that place from marske to pick up a book or two.

I love going to this little gem of a shop. I go there rather than the tax phobic Amazon. Jenna's great and really knows her stuff about books

Yes, yes. But does she sell a box of 128 Caramacs for 14.99 including next day delivery ?

I will have to visit - love real book shops and real books - great to see there are some surviving in the Teesside and Cleveland area

2? in Saltburn, 1 in Guisborough, Waterstones in the Boro.

I have bought some good second hand books in charity shops in the area too for very reasonable prices e.g. cheaper than Amazon.

Jenna is a lovely lass, known her since she was a kid. It's great to see her making a success of an independent book shop. God knows we need an alternative to the faceless Waterstones or even worse Amazon.

If you read the article you will see that Jenna actually hand selects the books on sale in her shop. But ask her for anything in print and she can order it and usually tell you a great deal about the book and author etc. It is like Alan Fearnley's for books.

There's also one on Silver Street in Stockton.

That yellow second hand one in Saltburn - I don't think we'll see it reopen. This is only hearsay, but apparently the bloke who had it was very poorly, then died intestate and there's been an ongoing wrangle about his assets, or no-one knows who his heir should be or similar.

Sorry to hear that. If we all tried to buy at least one book from these smaller places it would be a great help.

ah JB I understand you're confusion you're getting The Book Corner Mixed up with the similar sounding Caramac Corner, where all your crayon flavoured mock choice needs can be fully satiated.
