Fischer was a strange one, I would have liked to have seen him in this league.

Fischer can't get a regular start at Mainz, has made a 12 man bench for today.

Braithwaite has recently come back from a long injury, hasn't been involved with the national squad since the summer and was brought back in to the squad late to replace an injured player.
There are two legs, so they might have Braithwaite playing in the second leg.

Regardless, he's been good for us so I'm not fussed if he makes his national team or not.

Braithwaite: 7 starts and 1 sub appearance, 638 minutes played, 3 goals and 1 assist.

Fischer: 2 starts, 6 sub appearances, 238 minutes played, and no goals or assists.

Fischer hasn't been injured for most of the season either.

Saying that, I was disappointed Fischer left and hoped he'd give the Championship a go.

Genuine question Bobby?, how old are you?, you come across as a teenager maybe younger. I don't know if it's your writing style that has me wondering or that you struggle to put a basic English sentence together.

I have to admit I prefer your Boro_Legend character better though.

It's not particularly surprising he isn't in the squad. I think all of Denmark's midfielders and forwards are playing in the top leagues of the teams they play for.

I don't need the Danish manager to confirm wether braithwaite is any good, i prefer to go by what I see and his stats.

Me too and he is ok ATM but that's all. He will hopefully get better. No world beater though and looks overpriced at 9.0miilion.

We've probably overpaid for most of our signings this summer, except perhaps Christie, so it's not just Braithwaite.

The price for Fletcher seems baffling.

I don't often agree with Exiled but haven done a "bobbygee fmttm" google. There is no doubt that Bobby is in Asia, probably Singapore [;)] and is Boro_Legend.... failing that, he has been failed badly by the education system here [8D]

Braithwaite is certainly excellent at this level, but I'll reserve judgement on how good he can be / is until he's played consistently at a high club level.

He could be absolute quality, he could also fall into Ramirez bracket of being too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Premier League.

If Braithwaite was the next Messi he wouldn't be playing for us. From what I have seen post injury he is at a level of someone like Ramirez.

"It's not particularly surprising he isn't in the squad. I think all of Denmark's midfielders and forwards are playing in the top leagues of the teams they play for."

Bit of a moot point when some of those leagues are the Norwegian, Danish and Dutch leagues.

"From what I have seem post injury he is at a level of someone like Ramirez."

He's been injured, but can you slap on the "injury prone" label after one injury? That could happen to anyone.

As for Ramirez, we turned down £15 million for him in January. Ultimately we accepted less than his value due to his attitude and off pitch behaviour. If Braithwait is as good as him, we've got a bit of a bargain.

Denmark would have won if they liked him last night.

That only accounts for five players, four of which are current title holders and Ajax who reached the Europa League final - all play European football regularly.

What difference does it make if they're title holders? They're still playing at a poorer level than Braithwaite, which is the point I assumed you were trying to make.

Playing in European football doesn't mean much either. Kris Boyd played plenty of games in Europe. He was out of his depth in the championship.

Nicklas Bendtner was on the bench, rendering that comment completely pointless

"Bendtner has a far better record than Braithwaite at a much higher level."

Has he? He got 24 in 108 games for arsenal spread over 9 years which probably included a lot of ties against lower league opposition.

The rest of his career whilst playing at a higher level has mainly seen him flop. 0 for Juve and only 3 for Wolfsburg. He's only just started scoring again in the Norweigian League.

Just to note - those stats are according to Wikipedia so I don't really trust their accuracy but they won't be that wrong.
