I wonder if we were still here would he get his game? I always liked Albert and would have him over Traore any day of the week - that swap deal was one of Karanka's worst ever

Someone needs to make a highlights video of Traore’s best bits.

Someone in Europe will take a chance on him.

We shouldn’t have let AA go; I do think he was forced out in the end. It wasn’t a swap though.

Its only 4 league goals according to Sunday Times and Albert has not been judged good enough to start some of Villa's games. I agree AA has probably done more than AT this season. AT was brought in on potential while AA best days are probably now behind him because of his age. I wish Albert the best he was very effective for us.

I liked him and think he would improve us. However how many times did he fall out with the manager, he put a transfer request in at one point and it seemed every season there was something. I'd rather have players who just knuckle down and have no dramas

Rey good championship player. Could never get my head around selling him and bringing no one in, we needed a right midfield player as it was, getting rid of Albert meant we needed two. We didn’t address this.

Traore should never have been brought into the equation for right wing, any impact he made on the squad last season should have been considered a bonus.

"Could never get my head around selling him and bringing no one in"

traore was supposed to be world class, people claiming chelsea were ready to pay £15m for him. why shouldnt some expect he is a good replacement for adomah?
we do miss adomahs consistency, we dont get that with traore and its disruptive for a team wantign to be consistent and chase promotion.

“and it seemed every season there was something.”

There was only one incident really: an over the top reaction to being dropped against his former club.

He bought a QPR shirt once and people read too much in to it; he sure wouldn’t have done that if he were signing for them: they’d have given him a boxful

I never saw Traore as world class and I don’t think anyone I know did. I considered him a development purchase and one for the future. He had played a hand full of games for Villa, if he was a direct replacement for Adomah I consider that an even more questionable decision.

..err not by me. by others who were frothing at the mouth thinking traore is one of the best players we have had for a long time. i'm sure you knew that anyway.

you cant build promotion off the back of players who have 1 good game every 2-3 months. i think inconsistency in attacking players is what we are suffering from now

What posters think of Traore now is neither here nor there, the issue I had was regarding his role in the sale of Adomah.

You really do get your knickers in a twist as soon as there is any mention of Traore.

“Albert wanted to go and couldn't get away quick enough”

Is that why he turned Villa down?

AK had to say he wouldn’t play him in order to make him leave

Villa wasn't where he wanted to go (he wanted to go to that Landan, probably preferably QPR) but that doesn't alter the fact he wanted out of here.

Braithwaite has 2 goals in 3 starts for us, assombalonga has about 6 goals for us and bamford will start scoring soon, fletcher has a couple as well. I don't see what your point is?

We let him go because it's more than likely he wouldn't have been good enough for the top flight.

We sold him in the top flight which was probably above his level. The problem was traore was his replacement and was pretty poor replacement

"You really do get your knickers in a twist as soon as there is any mention of Traore."

Who me? I've not been on traore post for a while. I couldn't careless, I pointed he's not actually good enough and never going to be consistent and got hammered for that opinion. Where have all those people disappeared to?

No way was Traore bought as a direct replacement for Adomah. And if he was Gibson should never have sanctioned both the sale and the purchase.

As soon as Adomah was sold I had a feeling we'd go down. He was a dressing-room leader, a character, and those are the types of players you need. He tucked in and grafted when he needed to but he always looked to carry the game to the opposition. He wasn't given a chance and his selling was one of many terrible decisions last season - Barragan, Gestede, Guediora, Espinosa etc etc.

Promoted sides will always have it tough, but it can be done if you stick together and work for each other - look at Burnley. We broke up the main thing we had - team spirit - and failed to find the quality we were seeking. We'd have had more chance if we'd signed nobody.

I think Adomah was homesick but I think he'd have stayed if we'd given him the contract he deserved.

I’ve not forgiven Albert for his very average start the season Mogga got sacked.

We got one good game in three out of him and no premier league team has ever taken a punt on him.

He looked poor v Wolves recently.

As for Traore we are in the process of completely wasting an opportunity to develop out a player with unique and rare skills. It’s disappointing that we of all clubs who have resurrected many a floundering and wayward journeyman’s career over the years cant be bothered to bring out the best in a player of Adamas calibre.

He turned down a new contract and wasn’t interested in staying, AA wouldn’t have been here this season regardless if we’d kept him last he’d have been away on a free, club did well to get £7m plus profit after three good seasons.

He’s gone move on perhaps Traore will become a better servant for the club than AA, who at a similar stage in his career had played Isthmian League and a few games in Division 2.

You mean the season he signed, where he scored 7 goals in 13 matches prior to AK taking over?

List me his goals that season up to the 3 - 2 defeat at Barnsley where he scored two when the match had already been lost, that was the match that put paid to Mogga.

I don’t remember Albert pulling up any trees at the start of that season and I tend to have a long memory on players who don’t cut it at the key times for our team.

How many times did Albert put us in front or score the winner?

Probably because he was playing for Bristol City.

In fairness, he only scored 4 in the 10 matches he played under Mogga (Ipswich and Yeovil for what its worth), but that's still pretty good. Couple of assists vs Blackpool and Wigan spring to mind too.

What would you have expected from his first 10 matches at a new club?

hes played all his career apart from 2 games at boro outside the top flight.

people seem to have forgetten we got promoted and there was a good chance that adomah would have been less effective in the top flight. he wanted to leave, had 1 year left on his contract and we got a good fee. the problem was we didnt replace him with anyone decent and ended with relying on traore instead

I don’t think Albert did badly for us overall apart from under Mogga but at best he was a decent championship player.

He didn’t do enough for us to be talking about him in 20 years time that’s a certainty, unless it’s about him dancing with the fans or something like that.

What bizarre logic. And that's beside the fact we could easily have at least drawn that match. We were all over them second half and had plenty of chances to equalise despite the appalling first half. You make it sound as if neither team were trying and it became like a training game.

Of course I know that to dismiss Albert's contribution in that game suits your agenda. Poor attempt at spin though.
