Sad news.

Used to love Sean's show as a young 'un.

That's awful!

I saw him two years ago at a gig. He joked he left his house to an animal charity in his will because his family don't deserve it.

"It's Seany's show, la la la la"......

To be honest I've not heard of him in years. Wonder what he died of?

RIP

Saw Sean Hughes at the town hall 1994 with just him and his chair, he was brilliant! Remember him talking about his beloved Crystal Palace and going on and on about eastenders!

According to Wiki (so not necessarily accurate) he died of Cirrhosis of the liver.

Very sad if that was the cause of death.

He gave up booze a few years ago and I've just seen an article from last year saying he was still off it.

I remember him and Bob Mortimer on some TV programme, both at the Boro v. Palace game at AP in Lennie's last weeks as manager, Hughes being a Palace fan for some reason. Palace won 1-0. At the end of the programme Mortimer said to the camera, "I know who our next manager's going to be, it's (bleeped out)". Not long after Robbo was announced.

Sad news, a talented comedian but also a complex man, he gave up the booze about ten years ago, think his father was an alcoholic and he had an estranged relationship with his mother. RIP.

Yeah, I remember that programme from 1994. In fact I'd heard virtually nothing of him before or since that show. And that goes for the totally unfunny Bob Mortimer too!

That's eerie, literally last night I was flicking through programs on All4 and noticed Sean's Show was on there which I'd completely forgotten about. Sad news.

When Bob Mortimer said who he'd heard was going to be the next Boro manager, I thought he'd said Graeme Souness and I was well chuffed with that at the time. It was unthinkable that we'd be able to attract Robbo.

RIP Sean Hughes. Far too young an age to leave us.

Wrote a couple of decent books too. One of Low's celebrity fans, hope they'll be singing this for him somewhere tonight. There's nothing as sad a man on his back counting stars...

I follow him on twitter, his last tweet on 8 Oct simply said 'in hospital'

The thing he did with Bob was on Standing Room Only. Palace won that match 3-2 and got promoted, knew at the time Robbo was coming in through MSS.

Saw his set back in 92, met him at a thing a couple of years after and we chatted about Palace and the Boro.

Friends of mine who were close to the comedy scene said that he didn't handle success well -- the booze, alienating people close to him who wanted to help -- but that he'd clawed his way back from it. Gutting to hear he's gone.
