It's a fair price he said

Same as walk ups this season

£££ before fans

Very good letter.
At best 600 Ipswich fans would come here at full price £32.
Gibson would need just 768 to come at £25 to be neutral.
Even if nobody extra came from Ipswich, it would see MFC sacrifice £4,200 in making the gesture

I think Boro will take a lot more supporters to Portman Rd as a result of a £25 ticket, which may well be a boost for a vital fixture.

It is the right thing to do to reciprocate for many reasons and I hope Gibson can see beyond the end of his nose.

Great opportunity for Gibbo to do the right thing,
His track record of listening to the fans is poor - hope to be proved wrong but I don't think he gives a firk

He shouldn't need a letter from fans telling about this situation.

But sadly it does seem like he lost touch with area and fans long time ago, long before all this MBE/Tory stuff started.

The club said that doing reciprocal deals could see them down 100K in revenue so wouldn't happen and that they'd much rather our fans paid that much more for away tickets as a collective.

Sad to observe over many years, that MFC prefer empty home seats to affordable ticket prices, so no surprise they are unresponsive to away prices.

Utter garbage Maw

If it was just down to price then surely when it is dirt cheap for a cup match the ground would be full??

Mr G cares about loyal supporters which is why we still get a free drink 👍🏻

He cares enough about the most loyal enough to take away their priority for high demand games and give them a lovely shiny card in return.

The intention wasn't to submit this letter as a means of slagging off the club - it is just an appeal for a reciprocal deal to help supporters and therefore also help the team we support over the line in the last match of the season.

The club make no money on away ticket sales so I doubt they would be keen to make a loss on home ticket revenue, bit of a shame as if the game is a dead rubber only the more fervent fans would travel as Ipswich is a bit of a trek.

Rob why shouldn't the fans slag off the club are you actually defending Gibson's position on this. The clubs stance on walk up prices home & away is an absolute disgrace. The community club mantra is absolutely hollow

Fuchs, have you not observed that every time the club reduces prices for a special one off league game, the fans respond with near full houses? Check it out!

Cup games are different: weakened teams fielded, low priority, lower league oppo, etc etc. Very obvious that one.

Gibson was paying out a million pounds per month a few years back just to keep the club afloat, short memories some people I'm afraid.

Whats that got to do with the price of Ipswich tickets WSWally?

Agree it was very good of SG to bail the club out, but Ipswich are offering a low price and asking the club to mirror it.

On a wider view, I argue lower prices are more commercially astute in the long term than short term max price fixing.

Gibson's view is that MFC is not a democracy, he decides what's best, he pays the piper, he calls the tune. And he doesn't take kindly to unsolicited advice.

Understand that and everything else becomes clear, right or wrong, no arguments, buck stops with him.

Gibson wasn't giving the club a million a month a few years back at all. He was LOANING the club the money. It's a big difference. And looking at our outlay last season and this, it's fair to say he's recouped all of it and then some.

It's ironic that at a time when players are changing hands for 200 million, TV deals are worth 100 million a season and bang average footballers are picking up 10k+ a week that as a 'community club' run by supposedly 'one of our own' that the fans eyes are taken out when it comes to walk up prices.

Fans have been wearing the same pair of glasses about our chairman since 1986 and it's time they changed the lens to 2017 and tuned into reality.

Yeah, Gibbo's a real monster for not cutting ticket prices so you can all buy booze and fags and still afford to go to games [rle]

The game is ages away. Start saving up for it lads. The man isn't running a charity and it doesn't make sense to give up thousands for the sake of a few people who apparently can't find an extra fiver in their budget a year down the line.

Rob, talking of letters, now that the election had been and gone and the new season is underway, I'm interested to understand what your take and opinion. Is if gibbons letter to the residents if Stockton south urging them to vote Tory. And for James Wharton specifically.
What do you think, should he have used the reverence that people hold him in as chairman of mfc to try and influence an election? What about his complete u turn in choice of party? What about her a choice of candidate? Particuatly givej recent history?
You run the clubs fanzine, are a tepresentive of fans also and are a huge champion and advocate of the local area so I'm genuinely interested in your thoughts

In an era the club spunk millions on carthorses, player salaries while receive millions in lucrative TV deals our alleged philanthropic figurehead is unable to exhibit an ounce of goodwill by discounting tickets by a reasonable level. This is MFC, a club that claims to place its community at its heart, operates in an area that is painfully poverty stricken and where unemployment rife.

There certainly is only "one Stevie Gibson"

The club have made their stance on ticket prices in these community meetings and made it clear they are not budging. Unless fans get organised and that includes a lot of season ticket holders who d seem to look down and dont care about walk up fans or the cost of away tickets then nothing will change. We need to be shaming gibson and the club and highlighting how out of touch he is in comparison with other more community spirited clubs. There is no need for these prices given the cash rich TV bonanza its pure greed. Unfortunately Gibson has a stranglehold on the local media and even on dare i say supporter group representatives who are frightened to strongly criticise the club. Maybe a social media campaign could be used to get the fans point of you heard.

Billybob, we've had this argument many times on here in the past, when you say he's made it back and then some, try looking back at MFC accounts for the past 5-6 years you will see significant multimillion pound losses every single year for MFC.

I doubt he kept every penny the club made last season in order to pay that back, as he will have had loan wages to pay out for negredo, chambers and valdes, as well as fees for de roon and co, and you can bet that players had premier league promotion wage boosts in their contracts as well.

Wont be long til someone rolls out the oft-touted 'ah bu the offsets the tax!' which still means he has had to make a loss in the first place, and he can only claim back the tax he has paid not the amount lost. Posting a loss of £12m for MFC doesn't let him bank £12m as he has lost it - it lets him offset some tax in the rest of the business. Without that loss, he would still be several million pounds richer per year.

Glad you did dare say it. The silence from certain quarters is deafening. I'm not about a Gibson witch hunt, but lets be honest, I'm including rob in this, there is very little public criticism of the club or the chairman from the fans groups at all. As saint like as Gibson is-nobody is perfect and he has made some dubious decisions recently around pricing.
