Howson will come good

He's started poorly but I'm sure he will be seen as a shrewd buy at the end of the season.

No way would the Norwich fans have been so gutted to see him go if he was usually as he's been for us in the first five games.

I'm predicting he will still be a big player for us this season [^]

I hope so. His Leeds and Norwich stats look very impressive. I hope he knows how to pass a ball quickly forward.

Evening Garry. [^]

He may do, but he doesn't deserve his place in the team at the moment. That's what erks. He seems to be playing when more deserving players get dropped (Paddy B)

If Monk thinks Howson is in the side on merit
then he has lost the plot.

He's as much use as a one legged man in an ar*e kicking contest

There is obviously a good player there but hes been a waste of a shirt so far. Whether its because its taking him time to settle into a new club/area or if hes struggling to adapt to how Monk is asking him to play (which I doubt) he needs to get his act together.

Hes living on borrowed time for me and owes us a decent game. If he doesnt produce soon then he needs to be dropped for Leadbitter.

As far as Norwich fans go, I can only see what they are saying online.

But as for Leeds fans, well I live in the thick of them and have done for a dozen years. Aside from the father in law, who doesn't rate him due to his lack of pace (he doesn't rate anyone without pace and therefore hilariously thought Muzzy Carayol was a brilliant acquisition) most others rave about Johnny Howson like he's the Messiah. With the exception of Alan Smith he's probably ranked by them as the best player they have produced in the last 20 years.

Providing what they say is true, we just have to hope he overcomes whatever is holding him back as at the moment he's next to useless and no one should be immune from the drop.

In a pre-season interview when asked if Boro can go up he gave such a depressing response I thought maybe Gary O'Neil had returned in disguise.

The thing is ipad, you can be the second best player Leeds have produced in the last 20 years and still be shyte. (Clayton was produced at Man City)

"He's as much use as a one legged man in an ar*e kicking contest" ....[:D]love it !

On a more serious note... I don't think he would have kept his place so far if he hadn't been a Monk signing and costing 6M. He is one of the reasons why our current midfield is so alarmingly inept.

We need a different option in midfield... someone looking to play a decent forward pass or going past another player occasionaly. Downing, of course, can do that job... but of course too many..including the management team have already made a blinkered decision about him !

I sure hope he comes good. Because, lets be honest, he couldn't get any worse. Looked like he'd never been on football pitch before on Satda.

Echo many of the sentiments above, hoping his form does pick up, as his previous stats for goals and assists in this league are impressive.

It has to be said though, a very underwhelming start to his career at the club.

Never seen a Midfielder who dislikes tackling more, who is ridiculously weak and hides from the ball!

He has been awful so far.

£6 million Howson cost us. Then, we offered £4.5 million for Jota.

Has he played the majority of his career in a three or a two? He looks lost a lot of the time, like he's not exactly sure what he should be doing.
