Really impressed by Monk's attitude and approach

He's not messing about is he. With Brit his big no 1 target all but in the bag

Plus If we can get Ojo in as well that will be all his top targets signed up and it's still only July. That's impressive, doubly so when he is doing all this at a new club.

I think we have got a winner in our new boss v impressed this far.

TBH it's all diwn to Gibson not that I'm Gona knock monk all looking good so far .

I don't think we get ojo unless someone leaves unless Liverpool are happy with him possibly playing under 20 games .

We've got plenty of players we own needing first team football so maybe all down to Ramires staying

Re Gibson absolutely first in picking the guy and then in backing him.

Do people now think Ben will stay - as I think he will.

It will be interesting to see what the squad looks like come end of August, given the number of players who've been linked with moves away.

If we keep hold of Gibson, De Roon, Ramirez and Traore, as well as making further signings with the likes of Ojo and a keeper, we'll be sending out a huge message of intent to the rest of the league.

I think the people that deserve the credit this time round are Gibson and the recruitment team. The targets will have already been partly sorted and subsequently fine tuned with Monk. Clearly this is what persuaded Monk to join Boro leaving that dirty horrible Leeds lot behind.

Monks test is moulding them into a strong unit. I like what I have seen so far, he is showing maturity beyond his years. Gibson and the recruitment team are showing serious ambition though. Monks handling of Downing and Ramirez has been first class so far. Now he just needs Gestede sorting and 3 more signings unless anyone else leaves that is

Well done so far Mr Gibson in trying to right the wrongs

Coluka I said it's like what WEC were hoping Gareth would turn out to be young gifted ambitious English manager that we can build a legacy around. - sadly Gareth didn't work out like that.

We could have a real find in monk, let's hope so

I think it's far too early to judge Monk. I like the look of the signings, but his job is to put a balanced team together, keep the players motivated etc, and as yet that's untested.
The recruitment team deserve credit for going out and getting the targets.

James Beattie received a lot of praise for what he did with Chris Wood at Leeds.

If he has a similar affect on the likes of Bamford, Braithwaite and Assombalonga who are better players, we could score plenty of goals next season.

"Dont forget Gestede"

I am hoping we can now move him on tbh. Monk made a silk purse out of a sows ear with Wood, I doubt he can do the same again this season with him. He is an expensive plan B.

As things stand, surely he is behind Britt, Paddy, Braithwaite and Stuani as our spearhead. I appreciate Braithwaite Paddy and to a lesser degree Stuani can and no doubt will play other roles mind.

People said exactly the same this time last year. So, I'd suggest not getting too excited just yet.

Zorro I agree. However, I thought Southgate did well in his first two years, really well. The relegation year though was disasterous after a decent enough start. The issue that year was, in hindsight, it was clear recruitment was again weak and we had a really soft underbelly, players like Alves and Mido 8 league goals between them was terrible. No creativity in centre midfield. I think Southgate had to accept a degree of austerity as we could not sustain spending like we had done but his own frailties shone through that season.

Monk knows exactly what he doing did well at Swansea with less resources now we are bringing in proven championship players, unlike Karankas buys. Hopefully we keep Traore and Ramirez who could be a massive player if we can get him motivated to play. Monk will get us up this season.

Southgate not a young ambitious English manager? Who manages the national team again?
