Started working on ICI projects straight after my apprenticeship and through my twenties, coal handling plant and Water Treatment plants were big ones for me.

81-85. We (all 110 of us) were the last of the proper ICI apprentices. After that they went to a two year TTE scheme and a selection for who went to BS or ICI for the final two years.
If only we could have that level of youth investment today.

HC I thought so mate, your right as well we were taken on as 1st YTS then if kept on, most were you started your second year as full ICI trade apprentice and we were given the money back in a lump sum from the 26 Yts money to what the original 1st year apprentice would of been, still managed to blow it all though!

Wilton 1990 1994. Penultimate year before they scrapped them in 1992..

Howcarlin you weren't the last.. 1990 and 1991 intake (1991 were the last) were proper apprenticeships with no yts affiliation. Maybe even the year before us..

We were however at TTE's first year in Buisiness. Same instructors tho' ted hardwick, Andy taylor, John turnbull, etc

Still got my indentures too. I looked at them a few years ago, and basically my mother had to sign them to say I'd be a good boy. I'm still in the industry working in a senior capacity, and I often say I wish I could write my CV in reverse as the training was that good. Who remembers doing the 'modules'?
