A beautiful warm friday evening, South terrace ST holdere back then with me dad [^]
I remember Jim Stewart saving a penalty, the win kept arsenal from getting a european place after losing a recent UEFA cup final

In other news: The US president was Jimmy Carter (Democratic). In that special week of May people in US were listening to Call Me by Blondie. In UK What's Another Year by Johnny Logan was in the top 5 hits. The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick, was one of the most viewed movies released in 1980 while The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum was one of the best selling books.

Also, Leonardo Da Vinci’s notebook sold for over $5 million in 1980. In this year that saw the rise of heavy metal. The publishing of the first UK Indie chart was in 1980 as well. Bon Scott the lead singer of the heavy metal band AC/DC died in London. ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ became the highest grossing film of the year at the box office.

It's not the scoreline that's shocked me on this thread, it's more that Nobby was in the boys end. I thought he was born 50. [;)]

Was this the game Spike scored direct off a corner? I remember the game but would've said it was earlier, say '78. My only reasoning being that date is about 9 days before my dad died and he was so ill at that point I wouldn't have been there. Different game?
